Restaurant Service Charge
So high court gave a nice thrashing to restaurant associations recently per the attached article.
Kudos to Localcircles manager for showing persistence all these years and pushing Govt to act on this

The survey clearly shows restaurants are forcing this charge on consumer. I have also found that when one pays restaurants through swiggy zomato they levy this charge. Shameful. more

Mayur C once again it is a private company and if you are not willing to pay don't order that. That is the beauty of doing business in private world. You have choices. The government is not forcing down any regulation your throat. In the end they charge hidden fee if you for someone to do anything. more

Oh my this group thinks this is such an important topic that belongs to "Transforming India" forum. What is wrong with this group? Please talk about things like jobs available for the young in the country, improvement in public service sector, better services like clean running water. Let's stop people like so called jhopad patti that smooches free electricity and water. This is what you should be focusing on not these silly topics of tomatoes and restaurant charges. more

swiggy I don't know but on Zomato is high. / I stay and work in Bangalore/ I have this hotel close to my college /If I directly go to that particular Hotel with my friend for afternoon meals they charge around 320/- for 2 people / If I get parcel from that hotel it's 360/- for 2 people If I order through Zomato the price list for 2 meals itself shows an higher price then taxes and Booking through online + Delivery guy tips/ leave delivery guy tips that we have to give / so this 320 Rs Meal for 2 people on zomatoe is billed at Rs.480/- ( these are vegetaerian meals) on Zomato Non Veg they bill you direct 125-140/-Rs extra. if your Briyani is Rs.200/- per person you bills come to 300/- or sometimes even More / each and every time they send you to buy Discount coupons worth 250/- Rs where you get a small discount. Zomato pockets much/ Hotelliers don't get so much/ more

Even while ordering on Zomato & Swiggy, they charge packing and handling charges. This makes no sense at all. A simple plastic container doesn't cost more than ₹5 whereas these restaurants charge ₹20 upwards. more

The person needs to work to get food to you. Why should they not get paid for your convenience? more
