Resurgence of covid

Sone states have started competing with each other as to which of them has more cases everyday. Definitely not a good sign. Citizens and those who are supposed to ensure that basic norms are followed have let their guards down. Family functions (weddings, birthdays, parties etc.), Increased number of visitors to religious institutions, with the pre-covid type of crowds and show offs, along with citizens doing away with masks and distancing are some the causes. And then inbound international travellers getting away without testing.
Time to tighten the belt, unless we want more lockdown and barriers on travel:
- All arriving international travellers to be screened, whether it is for one day or one year. Allowed to meet others only if they clear the rest. NO exceptions.
- Organizers of events and functions, where there is a crowd and people are not wearing masks, to be fined heavily and the event immediately halted (this includes weddings). No exceptions.
- Vaccine is not a solution to prevent the spread, for its effectiveness is not known. more

A good punishment for violators would be to make them work as support staff in a hospital for covid patients for a week (no proxies) so that they realise the pains if the doctors and other hospital staff. more
Ms Subadra Murthy's observation that instructions alone are not enough, is absolutely true. Standard safety protocols has to be strictly enforced in public transport (including Metro, Buses, Taxis) and in places of gathering including wedding, educational institutions, public meetings etc. Soon there would be elections in many states and it is doubtful whether politicians would be able to enforce strict protocol against spread of virus amongst their audience. more

PERSONAL ASSUMPTIONS DO NOT SUPPORT THE TRUTH. So, dears, let's stick to the basics and keep our feet on the ground. more

Instructions alone aren't enough! Unless the safety protocols are strictly enforced and offenders fined/punished heavily, situation will not improve . Just last week we happened to visit the renovated Sahakar Bhandar, Matunga. The security had the temperature checker but did not check temperature of people entering - most customers were also either not wearing masks or wearing them below nose/chin - educated people at that! We came out immediately not willing to risk infection. When safety measures are not enforced people become careless. more
