Retailers wanting exemption from MRP
This is a new - Retailers like IKEA, H&M and the sports store Decathalon are asking from exemption from MRP rules in India.
Come what may the ministry must not yield to such demands. The consumer in India is easy to fool and with MRP protection, these brands are taking us for a ride. Without that dont know what they will do. Decathaon and H&M have nicely selling in the country without any issues for atleast 3 years. Must be this IKEA brands thats trying to shake things.
I'd say no to IKEAS cheap merchandise if it doesnt want to come to India. Plenty of their type stuff available via ecommerce sites. more

MRP fixation has to be based on cost of manufacture and fixed profits. Here the big companies and multinational companies in all sectors hike the MRP without relevance to COM and rob the people. The trading structure also results in hiking the prices with too many tiers of traders. more

The government should not bow down under any pressure from any quarter and protect the consumers' interests on priority. The retailers referred to appeared to be foreign concerns and they are welcome if agree to work under Indian laws, otherwise adieu them good-bye. On appointed as the Minister for Foods in Modi government, Ram Vilas Paswan declared that the relative laws will be amended to replace MRP with ARP (Actual Retail Price) to protect the consumers' interests but suspiciously he never talked again on the issue till now. Probably he succumbed to the pressure from the big houses and from within the government itself. more

Hardware items, plastic items, fod items are marked very high MRP and the customer is duped by giving some discount by the trader. But actually they pay more than what yhey should. more
