Rice Fortification - is it a scam

From reading this it appears that a bunch of MNCs through foreign NGOs are pushing the cause of fortification via FSSAI.

Can we have a debate on this FSSAI where you invite people from this circle and the experts of India (not the foreign ngo funded ones) in a room and lets discuss. more

There are different views on fortification. As a person engaged during my servicein PROCURING large quantities of RICE and storing paddy and RICE in HUGE GODOWN COMPLEXES, I feel that fortification process involves lot of Movement of procured rice to the FORTIFICATION PLANTS, involving TRANSITand processing LOSS. ALREADY, the FCI and STATE CIVIL SUPPLIES orgns are EXPERIENCING heavy losses on this score. All these have to be thought off more
The fortifications appear to be farce which pushes up the price of the product and inhibits its natural properties - it is just pushed to increase the profits of the corporates. It should be discouraged more

There should be a survey on how Fortification has helped to achieve its goal in these 2 years of introduction. If it is administered in controlled manner and checking is in place, it is beneficial. Let us see. more
The fortified foods have increasingly come under doubt for the harms they cause which are very serious. Naturally occurring nutrients work in our biology for their entourage effect which is lopsided when they are picked and administered individually. more
