River Yamuna a sewage or Nallah in Delhi

River Yamuna a sewage or Nallah in Delhi
Dear Sir,

Please note after coming to Delhi Yamuna river is getting converted into a sewage or nallah as it is connected with all sewage lines and nallahs. When it is emerging from Yamunotri it is as clean as pure ice water coming from mountains but afterwards once it comes to villages and cities and industries all kinds of sewage and nallahs are falling into it and finally it becomes a nallah which is giving foul smell and it is being supplied in taps of Delhi after cleaning which is not worth washing clothes even. Please pay some attention to this big problem and civic engineers for not letting mix rain water or Yamuna river water mix with sewage or industrial or nallah water as it is really disgusting now. Engineers are allowing all kinds of rain and Yamuna water and getting mixed with sewage and nallahs by connecting them. Please pay immediate attention and stop this practice with immediate effect.

Thanks with best regards.

Come to think of it, it is not only about the Yamuna river. According to a newspaper report almost 50% of the rivers in India go dry during the summer months....sadly, every year. One also reads about plans to harness the river waters, these only need to be expedited. It might somewhat philosophical, but all great achievements have had to deal with stumbling blocks on way to the pinnacle. We as masses must help out wherever we can. more
IN addition to pollution menace the trans yamuna bank area ( partially with forest deptt. ) has become a place for all un lawful activities and widely being misused . The areas have been marked by boundaries and given for cultivation on chargeable basis . Govt. must act immediately and convert the area on the lines of RIVER FRONT IN AHMADABAD . It will not only beautify the area for proper use but also prevent all misuse. more
SAND DREDGER IS ALREADY CLEANING THE RIVER NEAR BARRAGE . MY INTENTION OF DEVELOPING IT IS ONLY TO MAKE IT BEST FOR USE BY THE PEOPLE OF DELHI . ALTHOUGH RIVER FRONT AT LUCKNOW HAS BEEN DEVELOPED WITHOUT TAKING THE NECESSARY MEASURES FOR TREATMENT OF SEWAGE'S POLLUTED WATER , WHILE IT WAS A PART IN COST ESTIMATE. IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT DEVELOPMENT MEANS INCLUDING THE MEASURES FOR CLEANING THE WATER . IT SEEMS THAT YOU ARE NOT AWARE OF MANY ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES GOING ON IN THE AREA , WHICH IS OF GREAT CONCERN . OTHER WISE IT WILL BECOME A SAFE HEAVEN FOR NOTORIOUS ELEMENTS . EVEN YOUNG BOYS AND
GIRLS HAVE BEEN GETTING SPOILED .
ALL EFFORTS ARE BEING MADE TO GRAB THE VAST LAND . MANY COURT CASES HAVE ALREADY BEEN LODGED IN CONNECTION WITH THE CLAIM ON LAND GRABBED BY UN AUTHORIZED PERSONS . more
AGRICULTURAL USE OF RIVER BED I AM OBSERVING FOR THE LAST 62 YEARS.THIS IS WITH THE CONSENT/APPROVAL OF THE CONCERNED DEPARTMENT & HENCE THIS IS NEITHER NOR MISUSE BOUNDARIES WERE RAISED TO PREVENT ENTRY INTO THE RIVERBED FROM ANY POINT TO PREVENT DUMPING OF DISMANTLED BUILDING MATERIAL INTO THE BED
HOWEVER RAG PICKERS STILL SEGREGATE THEIR COLLECTED MATERIAL IN THE BED AND LEAVING BEHIND ITEMS OF NO USE
DURING LAST C.W GAMES JHUGGIES WERE RELOCATED ELSEWHERE.
DEVELOPING THE RIVERBED ON THE LINES OF RIVERFRONT THIS IS DESIRABLE ONLY AFTER V CLEANSE THE NALLAH KNOWN AS RIVER YAMUNA
MINING OF SAND FROM THE RIVERBED REQUIRES TO PROPERLY REGULATED more
GOVERNMENT & ITS AGENCIES SHOULD DIG OUT FILES OF DELHI JAL BOARD (AT THAT TIME DJB WAS UNDER MCD & KNOWN AS DELHI WATER & SEWAGE DISPOSAL UNDERTAKING) & THEY WILL FIND THAT AROUND 1960, TRUNK SEWER LINE WAS LAID TO CARRY SEWAGE OF DELHI DIRECT TO OKHLA SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT (STP) & THEREAFTER MASTER PLAN FOR DELHI CAME IN TO FORCE FROM 15-09-1961) WHICH ALSO PROVIDED FOR FUTURE NEEDS OF DELHI AND THE INDUSTRIES WERE TO MOVE OUT OF CITY. NAJAFGARH DRAIN (HAVING OUTFALL IN yAMUNA) WHICH CARRIED WATER OF SEASONAL RIVER OF SAHIBI OF HARYANA LATER BECAME A DRAIN AGAIN BEARING BURDEN OF SEWAGE OF NEWLY DEVELOPED (AUTHORISEDLY & UNAUTHORISEDLY) COLONIES OF DELHI INDUSTRIAL AREAS DEVELOPED DID NOT CLICK AS THE MUNICIPAL ADMINISTRATION UNDER ALL POLITICAL PARTIES CONTINUED AFTER 15-09-1961 GRANTING LICENCES TO INDUSTRIES IN THE CITY & OUT LYING COLONIES IT WAS ONLY AFTER SC JUDGEMENT IN M.C. MEHTA CASE ETC THAT LICENCING OF INDUSTRIES IN THE RESIDENTIAL COLONIES STOPPED BUT THE DAMAGED DONE COULD NOT BE COMPENSATED. INDUSTRIES IN APPROVED INDUSTRIAL BELTS EVEN TODAY CONTINUE TO DISCHARGE UNTREATED EFFLUENTS (DESPITE BAN) OF THEIR UNITS IN THE SEWAGE SYSTEM. CONTINUED ADMINISTRATIVE LAXITY, DELHI IN AN UNPLANNED MANNER ATTRACTED POPULATION FROM NEIGHBORING AREAS WHICH CAUSES UNAUTHORIZED EXPANSION OF DELHI ACCORDING TO MASTER PLAN DELHI WAS ESTIMATED TO HAVE POPULATION OF 35 LACS BY 1981 BUT THE Actual population of Delhi in 1981 exceeded 75 lacs which added to POLLUTION OF THE RIVER AND OTHER RELATED PROBLEMS WHICH WE NOW FACE. POLITICAL PARTIES IN THE LOCAL BODIES OF DELHI & PLANNERS FROM TIME TO TIME ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTINUED POLLUTION OF RIVER YAMUNA & NOW ONE HAS TO COVER NOSE WHILE TRAVERSING ON ROAD RIVER YAMUNA WITHIN GIVEN CONDITIONS WE IN DELHI HAVE DANGEROUS AIR POLLUTION LEVEL WATER QUALITY IS KNOWN TO ALL OF US & OUR CHILDREN ARE NOW TO DEPENDED ON PACKAGED WATER (OF QUESTIONABLE QUALITY) & IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CONGEST DELHI GOVT SHOULD NOW STOP ITS CURRENT POLICY OF LAND POOLING FOR BUILDING ACTIVITY. INSTEAD ALL THE FRESH DEVELOPMENT OF LAND FOR RESIDENTIAL PURPOSES SHOULD STOP & THE LAND SHOULD CONTINUE TO USED FOR AGRICULTURAL PURPOSES. & IN CASE THE FARMERS WANT TO ABANDON THE PROFESSION, GOVT SHOULD PURCHASE THE LAND BY PAYING REASONABLE PRICE & DEVELOP FOR KEEPING IT AS OPEN LAND FOR RECREATIONAL PURPOSE. more
From Wazirabad to okhla stretch of yamuna there are about 15 drains which are falling into the sacred river making it look like nallah. in 18 years Rs4439 crore spent to clean the Yamuna. But the result is amply clear on visit to the site. One thing if these drain water do not fall into the Yamuna, it will become dry except monsoon season. The Delhi stretch is worst although beside court NGT has told authorities to set up STPs but if it is properly monitored how public public money will go down the drain. Its dirty water is means of income for money. more
