Rivers are the greatest resources of water. And Water is the greatest resource for all forms of life in our world. But we treat rivers with scant respect, though we have come from a culture which treated the rivers as Gods. As an agricultural resources, water and earth together give maximum yield per unit of water and land at the so-called delta regions of the river. But are we allowing the water to flow up to that point. The state where it originates from, claims almost all the water in the river with massive dams and diversions. We don't respect international standards and laws regrading sharing of water. We play politics with this basic resource. Will better sense ever prevail? more

Not mixing the domestic and industrial waste in river water can control the contamination of river water. Waste management to be implemented. Controlling or avoiding the usage of underground water is required to develop the lands. more
is it not possible to replicate Singapore's water success story? SINGAPORE - Singapore's success story in water management can be effectively replicated in India, says Professor Seetharam Kallidaikurichi, a former director at the Institute of Water Policy at the Lee Kuan Yew School, now based in Manila. "Singapore's experience is very do-able and politically appropriate with India's recent changing leadership under new prime minister Narendra Modi. Most Asian countries may have the technology but not the political will. It also may not be at the stage of development where the outcome can be replicated." "If Singapore can do it, so can India, just going on the flow of how Singapore, a country with so little water of its own, managed to become the world's most successful in water management, a model country that serves as a benchmark for others." more
