ROAD ACCIDENTS DEATHS CAUSES WELL CLASSIFIED:

Take a cursory look at the Road Accidents cases and the Road Accident Death cases . Tamilnadu leads in Accident cases , but Accident death cases stays far behind per accident death cases [24.1% results in deaths ] behind the ones with less Accident cases .

Accident to death Ratio among the top 5 states leading in accident cases :

In U.P. 19,320 death out of 30,612 accidents [63% ].

In Maharashtra it is 12,935 deaths out of 39,878 accident cases 32.4 % ,

In Karnataka 11,133 deaths out of 44,403 accident cases [25% ]

In Tamilnadu 17,218 deaths out of 71,431 accident cases [24% ]

Madhya Pradhesh and Kerala donot feature in the top 5 accident death cases in India though they both feature in the Top 5 Accident cases.

Where the % of Death to accidents is low , Trauma care may be good to serve the patient during the Golden hour . Well distributed trauma care, Government as well as private across the state . The trauma care consists of,
- prompt helpline to reach the spot ,
- the support from the local community [eg. an educational institution nearby , the aware teaching staff coming to rescue making the best in the "Golden Hour " ],
- Responsible citizens organizations and police to take of the valuables on the accident victim .

Th data that provides vital information on how and when these accidents happen and cause death .The data has been classified on the basis of , * Type of vehicles involved , * Types of roads where happened what type of Road , and * Specific causes for the accident .

These statistical figures could be a guide and useful tool in the accident Prevention strategies for the feature :

Among various causes for the accidents , Driver negligence contributes as high as 93 %. Besides the fault of the passenger, pedestian and others forming just a mere 7% .

WITH THIS FIGURES THE FOCUS SHOULD BE ON HOW TO REDUCE OR COUNTER THE DRIVER NEGLIGENCE :

* At Licencing stage : There was a time when the licensing was lenient as there was unemployment of eligible uneducated youth . As a result the drivers weren't trained well enough to qualify and meet the needs of the increasing challenges in road traffic sector .

There should be strict procedures for granting licenses as it plays an important part in the safety of human lives.

Simultaneously strict vigilance also to see that there is no corruption while implementing stringent procedures in licencing .

* Like enforcing Helmet law in cities strictly, other laws also have to be implemented . Why do we have laws ? To read , produce in the exams to get degrees , or admire ? They are meant to be implemented for the welfare of the citizens and save their lives.

Start imposing penalties for signal jumping first and one way traffic violation . Why do we have traffic signals ? To have play of coluours ? That has a purpose to give chance and right of way for different direction to smoothen the traffic. If you let them of now it will encourage them to violate and commit bigger crime .

MINOR VICES HAVE TO BE NIPPED IN THE BUD , OTHERWISE THEY ENCOURAGE TO GRADUATE TO MAJOR ONES . ALL THE ROWDIES HISTORY SHEETERS ARE EVOLVED THIS WAY.

* Traffic rules permit only rider and one pillion rider . Have we not seen more than 2 more often ? 3 is becoming common , police have accepted this norm , but upto 5 are also seen . Why not change the rules to allow 3 in a 2 wheeler , if it is felt it helps the poor in transporting . But stop there.

* " Stop line " violations are another impediment . The line has no meaning at all . The vehicles cross so much beyond the line and stop that it comes in the way of the free flow for the vehicles from the other directions .

LET THE LAW MAKERS AND POLICE BE A GOOD ROLE MODEL FOR THE YOUTH AND PUBLIC FIRST IN STRICTLY ADHERING TO THE ROAD RULES.

If few of the above suggestios are headed to, the Traffic police will be well on the way to reduce the 93% of Drivers negligence , arrogance . Accidents will be far less , Valuable loss of life least . more

A good initiative from Mr. Jayakumar Daniel, which should have been an eye-opener. But sorry to say this would be a cry in the wilderness , since nobody(almost) going to care. Add, some other features for Nagpur - (1) willful disobey of traffic signals ( signal jumping, ignoring signal when it is already yellow and going to be red as also, start the vehicle with full acceleration while the signal is still yellow and yet to become red, driving in opposite direction in 2-way divided roads ,(2) Zebra signs for pedestrian crossing seems to be of history/mythology, (3) pedestrians crossing road, from any point he likes - not bothered about crossing points, (4) footpaths (as also major portion of roads are occupied by hawkers and/or extension by the shop keepers, and (5) police as silent spectators. Listing is not exhaustive but done purely on a extemporaneous manner. more
Majority of the road accidents occur because of violation of traffic rules paying utter disregards towards the laws. Existing peculiar draconian criminal laws to harass those coming forward at the rescue of the victims deter the passers-by to do so and arrange for immediate shifting of the injured to nearby hospitals for immediate medical aids, which results death to many of the victims for want of timely medical treatment. more
This is an important topic as nobody talks about 1.5 lakh deaths on road every year out of which atleast 25% is due to bad roads....but was surprised with media hype of demo deaths of 100 odd people...ought to be poor in terms of safety as per our basic corrupt culture....so UP most likely doesn't register half of the cases??...Regards On Fri, 06 Jul 2018 06:17:05 +0530 Jayakumar Daniel wrote > more
In many State traffic rules are violated with impunity. The police do not fine the drivers due to corruption and political interference. All State Police Chief should be given direct instructions by the Supreme Court to implement the traffic rules strictly and they should be held responsible for any laxity as the political class has failed to rule as per law of the land. Politicians always keep an eye on winning next election and hence put pressure on law enforcing agencies not to implement any law. Instead they legalise the illegal acts with retrospective effect to get maximum note & vote. more
Respective states should be questioned by Central Ministry, Guide, Help and educate them to cut down accident deaths in Road accidents more
