RTI

I need some information from police station DLF PHASE I, Guru gram, Hryana. It's related to road accident. There is no online rti facility in the state. I sent an application via post office with postal order of Rs20 two months ago but no effect .
Please help me with your valuable advise.
Thanks more

Usually you will not succeed in above incidents. Advisable to write to the DSP/ACP/DCP office wherein PR officer is engaged only for these works. "STATE INFORMATION COMMISSION" is last resort, after the 30/40 days. more
It is important to have a proof. use the format of application as prescribed, Then ask for data or record. you cannot ask why the delay or when are you going to do. but there are methods to get result. In your case attach the copy of the application you had made, and ask i) Kindly provide the certified copy of the document (say a letter or copy of an order) ie. page of the receipt register of your office indicating the date and time of receipt of the letter (application) enclosed ii) The copy of a record indicating the name and designation of the official/ officer who receoved the latter. ii) copy of the document indication the designation and name of the officer/ officials/ officials to whom the application was marked indicating the action to be taken or note to be put up along with the date . iv) copy of the office note put up by the designated official or authority v) copy of the remark by the officer to whom the note was put-up vi) Copy of the Remark or order of the officer concerned. vii) the name and designation of the official or officer in whose custody the application is held now. Prepare this and send it by speed post or registered post with "proof of delivery" or "acknowledgement of receipt. If you do not send the RTI application asking for copy of records or office notes or files they can always say that they have not received any RTI application. NOTE: Please remember to attach court fee stamp worth Rs 10/-. Ask the office to send the you fees if any for the copy along with the reply. Else they will tell you that you shall be given the document if you deposit the fees. (they may not say how much fee.) In your case you had sent a postal order. do you have a copy or number of the Postal order. Did you get any receipt from the office that they have received the application? with u luck. but patience is necessary as many govt. offices have now developed strategies to tease, discourage or confuse you with replies. all the best Ramakumar more
Regret to say that often, the protectors of law become the violators of the law, and they get away with impunity! That's the style of governance we are having in India. I am going through a similar experience here in Vizag. I applied under the RTI Act 2005 to S.P.-RURAL for some data on fatal accidents while working in confined space / underground sewer lines and boilers. No reply came.I then sent an appeal to the Appellate Authority / DCP. He sent a letter to the S.P. with a copy endorsed to me. Several months have passed. There is no response as yet.The next step is to complain to the CIC. They will fix a Television Conference in your city. The CICI is supposed to impose a fine and take disciplinary action as per Sec. 20 (1) and 20 (2) of the RTI Act 2005, respectively. But in another case, where the delay was more than 1 yr or so and the data was all wrong, no action was taken on the assurance by the O.P. that they would comply. I also relented as it was my previous employer. But they have not complied !! You also should complain to the CIC. Remember to send ALL documents since the original request letter under RTI was sent by you [i.e. your letter sent under RTI, Rs 10/- Money Order counterfoil, Regd. A/D receipt of the post office; A .D. Card signed by the opposite party as receipt of you RTI letter, along with an INDEX of all documents in chronological order. You must also write " TRUE COPY / SELF-ATTESTED' on each page of the document otherwise, your case will be returned! I have through the whole hog and learned how to chase cases!! The whole process is back-breaking and time - taking. But what to do? "Andher Nagri, Chaupat Raja" condition is prevailing in our country.WISH YOU ALL SUCCESS. more
But it can be ascertained through RTI the copy of records of weekly progress on the complaint. Pl ask for the records only and tell them to give you the charges that need be paid for copies. If you do not get any reply within 30 days appeal to appellate authority with copy of the first application. more
What is the duty of police ? If everyone follow the existing rules then we don't need police. My complain is under process from 15 July 2016 on public grievance portal. Just one question whether the hospital informed the police about the accident ? Should it take more than one year to answer a simple question? Thanks for the comments ! Sorry if it hearts you! more

Prabhash Mishra- IF IT MORE THAN 30 DAYS AFTER YOUR SENDING AN RTIM APPLICATION, YOU CAN FILEVAN APPEAL BEFORE THE4 STATE INFORMATION COMMISSION. ALTERNATIVELY, YOU MAY SEND AN EMAIL TO HARAYANA IG/DG OR ELSE GURGAON DIG/ CITY COMMISSIONER more
Thank you sir ji more

Dr. Sekhar Iyar ji is 100% right according to my knowledge Mr. Kaushik Biswas ji. Yes in some site or portal court fee of Rs 50 is written. Google search engine is not 100% correct /believable. more
The RTI act does not talk of any 'court fees'. BUT IPO IS MENTIONED. HENCE PRABHASH IS RIGHT IN SENDING IPO more
