rules and laws are not for Elders
1.The maintenance of Elders are not done by wards seriously and flouting the Govt. rules. They present to take care of them by actually do not worry about the elders problems.
2.Banks are not carrying out the RBI instructions to the banks issued towards the benefits of elders. practically many elders find difficult to stand in common queues for long time, the Forms supplied for NEFT etc are not easy for filling by Elders, Net banking is not convenient and safe for Elders, Managers of the banks are seldom available to hear the complaints of the Elders, Many ATM machines are having typing pad are fixed at deep in to the machine with invisible numbers etc, the display in the ATM machine are mostly very light coloured and not visible to elders eyes, cheques issued by elders are frequently returned by banks telling letters are broken, overtouch done, correction done (even if not done) , signature do not tally with theirs etc It is not possible for elders to maintain their signature even for 1 or 2 years constantly. Hence Banks should allow elders to affix their thumb impression in the cheques in the front or at the rear side.
3.Police is not bothering about the safety of Elders. The GOI once issued instructions that Police should maintain the list of elders living within their police station jurisdiction and a register should be maintained. The State Govt also printed and supplied such books to P.Stations. But they were used for some other purpose. Generally elders are forced to live alone in separate portion or floor of the house but the police officers do not recognize that elders are living alone, Just because they are in the same building. The GOI should issue suitable instructions to Police that such cases should also be considered as ""living separate " and necessary protection given to them.
4. In the public places the elders are not considered as persons deserving human consideration and given adequate facilities on par with physically handicapped and women. Even Govt.of India have not created or included the word "Senior Citizens"" in to the Ministry for Child and women's welfare. The GOI should amend the Ministry name and issue necessary orders. more
