Sabzi Mandis

Sabzi and Fruit mandis in India are in such pathetic state.

I seriously think the fssai instead of organising all kinds of fests should focus on making these mandis clean and hygenic by working with municipal corporation and state food departments.

Atleast they can make a beginning in Delhi and Mumbai... more

Well sometimes if the awakening does not come automatically, then second option is disciplining. Media -both print and visual could help create awareness of cleanliness and hygiene. Though children study about cleanliness and hygiene in their kindergarten classes, the practical application is missed out. We cannot have a sweeper to clean up the litter of every individual but Yes, a penalty of Rs.250/- for first offense and maybe public sit-ups specially for educated people found to be littering would no doubt send a clear message that the Government means business. Way back in 1998 Surat city was dirtiest not only in Gujarat but maybe in entire India. But a Municipal Corporator Mr. S.R. Rao took it upon himself to make it clean. He imposed Fines for littering making shop-keepers accountable for any litter found in front of their shops/laaris or whatever. Polythene bags if carried also attracted fines from Rs.50/- onwards. Today Surat is one of the cleanest city in India. Initially people were angry and affronted and called SR Rao a dictator and his policies high handed but he did not budge from his mission. Same SR Rao when he was transfered by the Government - public of the city came out in his support asking his transfer to be revoked. They had themselves witnessed the transformation of the city from a plague infected city into a clean city. Can our modern day Corporators/Counsilors not learn from this example? more
Government talks of SWACHCH BHARAT....but a walk into any Mandi would convince you how much of their claims is true. However the real awakening should be from within for every citizen. Try telling a North Indian to not throw wastes on road or spit on the road and you may either be roughed up or worse you could even end up in Hospital with stab injury or bullet wound. A common dialogue of Delhi is: Tum Jaantey nahin main kaun hoon. You don't know who I am. Anyway who wants to know hoodlums and ruffians who seem to be related with politicians all the time. So it seems politics breeds these evils in the society. more
If people are to be educated and behave themselves, why swatcha bharat cess is being collected. We could have concentrated on changing public behaviour. more
Can we expect a sweeper to stand behind every individual to clean up after him/her. The authorities might ever sweep the place but the next person will come and throw rubbish. Their argument will be, there is already so much litter here, what does it matter if I throw. Even educated well dressed people litter everywhere. Railway stations are so much cleaner now, yet one finds people who care two hoots about cleanliness. more
Very unfortunate but true. Terrece Vegetable gardening might be the solution for atleast ourselves. We can make our own non poisionous vegetables with this terrece vegetable gardening. more
Good Idea. more
Yes, the F&V Mandies are in worst shape in India and the Mandi administration is most corrupt like FSSAI Inspectors. Then how you expect them to improve. Besides most unhygienic, the internal roads are worst in Madies as all money goes into corruption despite earning of lakhs and crores perday by them. Most of the Mandi secretaries are most corrupt like Nagar Nigam officers in the whole country. Only PMO can do something as the state govts are not capable of doing anything in this case they also being most corrupt. On Sat, 27 Jan 2018 09:29:27 +0530 Vinita Agrawal wrote > more

MORAL OF THE STORY IS NO NO ONE WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY BUT EVERY ONE WANT TO TAKE CREDIT more
