Safety of Women Passengers

Some of you have quoted the recent and sad incident of a lady near Jaipalguri having to jump from a train with her infant and husband due to harassment by some fellow passengers. This is very concerning and Railways is working on multiple measures including the 182 helpline.

With this post, we want to seek your specific inputs on what all should be done for the safety of Women Passengers. We would love to hear from our female members in this circle esp and also request male members to check with their families as well on what else cane be done to improve safety of Women in Railways.

We look forward to your inputs! more

One of the deterrent for women's safety is speedy and just disposal of the cases of attacks on women. A practical time frame (say 1 month ?) should be set for disposal of the cases. For a change, in such cases of attacks on women, the onus of proving not-guilty should be on the accused. more
Irrespective of the time being night or day, each lady's compartment should have an armed police personnel. The costs involved could be collected from the ticket by way of service tax. Besides, the punishment should be made severe, the case should be handled transparently. more
