Sand Mining Corruption
Sand mining corruption is very very common in states like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and every state in India where there are rivers.
These happen with nexus between Govt and contractors and neta, babu and local leaders like sarpanch all make ton of money.
Recently a sarpanch wanted 8 lakhs per month from 4 contractors in madhya pradesh who have already paid bribes and won the contract to allow them to extract the sand.
How can all of this be fixed. Should sand mining be made an organised industry?? more

Demand for Sand mostly comes from Building & Infrastructure Sector. Alternative to Sand is available, only Govt. directives are required, particularly from Environment Ministry. more

Sand is going to be the second scarcest material after water as per UN. Please see the attached News report from the magazine Science. An alternative will be to use M sand. Of course, this also requires granite; so the accompanying report suggests that we utilize existing space more effectively. There is no point in saying that the Government should do this or that. Let us try to optimise our space utilization. more

(1) Justice system should have its reforms so that justice delivery time is shortened. All vacant positions in all courts must be filled as early as possible. (2) Judiciary should evolve its performance measurement system linked to performance reward which must also include practicing lawyers. Technology is to be deployed.... An effective judiciary system may have all round impact on the society. more

I think this is an import segment of our industrial life. Sand Mining is a cash cow for many govt officials and local administrators. First of all, we should study this industry from US and EU countries how they handle and what kind of check and balance system they have in place. After we learn from their set up, we can abstract all applicable measures and apply to our system to make it more effective and more efficient and corrupt free industry. I am not sure how we can access this knowledge on foreign sand and construction industry. If any one has any suggestion, I request them to share on this platform. Jayantibhai Chauhan more
