Save our Teens from Energy Drinks, Mr Prime Minister!
Energy drinks are being promoted through misleading ads like “It gives you wings”, “Wake up”, “Win from within” etc. Much needed warning regarding the adverse effects of high caffeine levels, grave side effects of mixing alcohol with energy drinks etc are missing! Amit Kumar, (B Tech-Chemical Engineering-IIT Delhi) and others have studied the subject during internship with Consumers India. The findings have been shared with Prime Minister and others with the appeal to reinvigorate the regulatory framework so that health and well-being of teenagers is not compromised under any circumstances. Thanks for exhaustive information on energy drinks and its constituents. The govt. and its concerned department should formulate a policy regarding minimum and maximum weight of each constituents, their prohibitive combinations and maximum price. The defaulters should be arrested and deterrent penalties be levied on them. The packing should highlight the harmful effects of energy drinks under some conditions. The school, colleges, gyms & health clubs should also be apprised of these, so that they disseminate this information to their students/clients. more

The tragedy is that even educated people are falling a pray to the attractive advertisments sponsored by the top film actors. And actors act for money. They have no scruples, as long as they are paid fat sums. more
