School Bags of kids
Children carrying school bag on their back with a load more than the kid's weight is a punishment to their growth. Measure to reduce this by schools is desired. There are many options but one must be prepared to listen and consider them. Suggestions may be invited from public and then a seminar arranged to decide on them.
I have forwarded mails with my plan for this. Surprisingly, none answered to it. Would like to post on this circle if called for. more

There seems to be much of confidence in the person who speaks in favor of the heavy bags. It is not proper to compare the present state with our days. During our time we used to carry books either in hand or in a box which never used to give us a feeling of pain or discomfort. Today we have loads of books to carry in a changed situation where an Auto Rickshaw accommodates double than its capacity covering a long distance which is marred by traffic congestion and piles of garbage. For those who have to climb stairs and cover three to four storey is another punishable task. It is obvious that those running schools will look for silly logics to prove themselves that they are sincere and concerned about studies. However, it may be, that some hefty or dull stricken children whose parents cannot deliver and do not pay much attention on their ward will obviously find ways to either counter or instead prefer to keep silent. I wonder how carrying heavy bags could be a good physical exercise. If that be, we would notice many walkers with bags on their shoulders in the parks and fields during morning hours. We should moderately moderate ourselves and try to impress on the concerned authorities to look into it and find a way out to such a crisis. more

I am not sure what weight you are referring to as heavy.. but I remember we also used to carry bags in our school days.. and that never bothered anyone of us.. Yes, if it is something all or most of the children are complaining about, then yes we may need to consider this as an issue.. but if most of them are not at all bothered with how much they are carrying, then that should be okay.. if a single child is complaining, it must be some physical problem he might be suffering from.. carrying moderate heavy bag is a good physical exercise.. more

It is unethical on part of the school authorities to turn blind on an issue which needs immediate attention. CBSE and ICSE must also come out with an immediate solution to it. In many schools like Donbosco, Patna , a student has to carry bag on his shoulder in the morning and wait till the assembly is over. A student then has to climb stairs and cover three storey to attend his class. It is inhuman on part of the school administration to continue until some untoward takes place. I vehemently condemn such an act and request all the concerned authorities to act before it is too late. Dr. Syed Nehal Ahmad (Patna) more

Sir. I totally agree with you. Few days back, I got an opportunity to pickup my nephew from his school. I really felt tired to carry his backpack. Each and every school must assure to carry copies and books on daily routinely. more
