Schools derailing cashless drive

Schools are derailing cashless drive of the Government. they are charging 1-3% extra if parent is paying the fee using debit and credit cards.

Can the localcircles, Consumer Affairs escalate this with ministry of finance, cbse, ministry of hrd, others.

There should be no charge or a nominal charge of INR 50 or so for cashless. Right now we incur 500-1000 rs extra if we pay fees by debit/credit card. more

When you use a debit or credit card, a certain percentage is paid by the receiver to the bank as MDR. That has been the norm always. No customer is charged extra by the vendor. Why should schools charge differently? This complaint has to be lodged with the police and brought to the attention of the media. more
No authority to check unauthorized charging for using cards?why government is keeping mum? Who is authorised to deal with the issue? more
GOI & RBI to assess profit and loss and even Fund instead of Allowing Write offs, Funding NPAs. more
Not only schools but even banks, including public sector banks indulge in this practice. I had to pay nearly 11,000 Rupees cash to Axis Bank for my US visa last year. They were saying that they do not have card machine. Similar experience with UCO Bank (for renewal of locker account). Similar was my experience for prebooking for a calendar. They insist that we should open accounts with them, instead. It is laughable that the banks do not have card machine. more
It is high time that we made the names of such schools public and also inform the Income Tax department. Many merchants also do the same thing. Merchants also say, pay by cash, we will give you 10% discount and also you need not pay GST. People also fall for this trap and pay by cash. more
Cashless or Cash full, the school fee collections are on sky lines. more
