Scrutinise all Vice Chancellors in TamilNadu

The news that Vice chancellor of Bharathiyar University was caught while taking bribe and was arrested has not shocked the people, as it is rumoured for quite some time that Vice chancellors in Tamil Nadu are appointed based on their capability to pay bribe money.

While the V C was arrested , Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University is accused of misusing the office or evading the payment of income tax and her residence was searched on April 7, 2017. Investigation is taking at snail’s pace, may be at the behest of politicians.

As in several other areas, the politicians in Tamil Nadu have done enormous damage to the educational institutions in the state ,by ensuring that only bribe givers would get the post of Vice chancellors.. The past governors of Tamil Nadu who are the chancellors of the Universities are equally guilty.
The Vice chancellors of private Universities are also mostly appointed on the basis of their proximity to the promoters of the private universities

It is also reported that several promotions and appointment of professors and their transfers are also based on the bribe paying capability.

The teachers form associations , and often go on strike just like trade unions. Even IIT Madras professors have done this.

With the situation being so bad, it is no surprise that students do not anymore view the teaching faculty with the respect that was there in earlier times. Now, the young students cannot even believe that there were Vice chancellors of great caliber in Tamil Nadu like Dr. A.L.Mudaliar and Dr. C.P.Ramaswamy Iyer

Now that we have a new Governor in Tamil Nadu, he should examine the background and properties and assets of all the Vice Chancellors including that of private universities, presently held by them and compare it with what they possessed five years back. They should be asked to reveal their source of income.

It is sad that all Vice Chancellors in Tamil Nadu now look to be suspects.

It is really unfortunate. Greatly worried about the present day happenings in Tamil Nadu. Where we are heading for in the days to come? Corruption at its peak. No developments whatsoever, in Industries, infrastructure, education, employment, power generation. No decision in any matter of development and in the interest of the State and it's people. God save Tamil Nadu. more
