seat allotment to senior citizens/ senior citizens female
Over last few years me (77 years) and my wife (66 years) regularly travel either in 1st class of on two tier AC and reservation is done through irctc portal. WE are finding it bit difficult to to get lower berth almost 50% of the times in spite of indicating the age. We also find that other senior citizens are also affected by it. My wife has some difficulties in climbing the upper berth since the steps are not conveniently located. funnily wait listed passengers or those book through tatkal get lower berth irrespective of their age. Is it not possible to have a software which automatically allot lower berth to senior citizens when at the time of booking a choice is sought. This situation is also happens in the case of booking by physically handi capped. more
You miss an important point. While booking the system allots as per your request and availability. But while finalising chart system goes by the then status after cancellations. Suppose we make the system to remember your request while finalising the chart and if it offers you different berths at different areas for couples or groups you will have greater grouse. This is endless. So best to cooperate with copassengers to exchange berths in humanitarian way. You never get a 100% foolproof system more
If we think some solutions can be made. While booking, it can be executed only as confirmed . The berths can be alloted at the time of chart preparation, based on age and preference. This way 90 percent of lower berth problem can be solved more
