Seat preference according to the passenger's request in sitting accommodation - Reg.

Indian railway is operating many day time express trains between important cities with sitting accommodation. In these trains, getting seats according to the passengers's choice is difficult.

One of my friend booked ticket in Chennai to Coimbatore Kovai express for their family members consists 3 persons. At the time of booking, around 1100 seats were vacant. In reservation ticket it was found that instead of compact accommodation in one row, seats were allotted scattered manner at 3 different locations.

Similarly when 2 persons are booking seat with one window seat, the system is not allotting compact accommodation (One window and next middle seat). One window seat is allotted and another seat in located somewhere else. It is very difficult to get one window seat and one middle seat next to each other.If we insist for compact accommodation for two persons, system is allotting middle and aisle seats only even more than 1000 seats are vacant.

For example, I reserved 2 seats in Train No.12676 Coimbatore to Chennai Kovai Express on 24-04-2015 at Tiruvallur PRS counter. I asked the booking clerk to give the ticket with one window and next middle seat (Compact accommodation) With grate difficulty, PRS clerk has given ticket accommodation as per my choice. PRS clerk also told that system is not allotting one window and one middle so easily. Ticket PNR No. is 451-9751276 Date of journey : 07-05-2015.

I am requesting the authorities to make arrangement/modification in the system to give compact accommodation in day time sitting trains according to the passenger's request/choice. Please don't divide the family while traveling in train. more

Tickets with scattered seating arrangement is common in day time trains. If we want to adjust with co passengers in the trains for compact accommodation with our family, it is very difficult to convene them. It is better that system should be made user friendly to get compact seating arrangement. more  
Nice, at least there are many suffering from this railway disease. I have filed RTI regarding this issue and is following it out. Will take it to the end till solution received. I suggest you also file RTI which you can do on RTI Online website, but keep track of it. Don't let it loose. This mighty organization need to be organised by people only. Ministers come and go, but no concrete solution are seen. Even highlighting the issues through this circle are not bringing results. I can give details of RTI filed by me if required. Maybe it is a problem of booking clerks. I have not experienced this problem in tickets booked through IRCTC. more  
This is one way of TTE to get money from passenger. If you approach TTE and tip them they will make arrangement. One time I went with my family in sleeper coach, I had two children, my mother 75 years old, for all the ppl they gave upper seats, lower and middle seats are available, the TTE never allowed us to use lower and middle seat, even though I told the TTE if the middle and lower seat passenger come I will request them, but TTE never allowed, he asked me to come to near the toilet and asked me money. I denied I told him if the passenger come I will request them to give their seats. more  
Railways babus are Kaamchors.. they dont have any idea of commuters' inconvenience.. unforgivable.. more
