Seeking Information from PSU banks
I am looking forward cooperation of some members on voluntarily basis to seek information from the their bank regarding deduction of SMS alert service charges from account holders. It is estimated that banks in PSUs and private sector has already earned some Rs. 2,000 crores from unethical charging of Rs. 16.85 from the accounts per quarter basis towards SMS alert services. RTI information would help me filing a class action suite in the National Commission. Those who feel that they have been doing only limited transactions in the accounts and are willing to come forward may please download the template attached in this post and seek information from their banks. Since RTI is applicable for PSU banks, hence only those who are having accounts in PSU banks may do so. However my class action suit would be against all banks seeking directions to refund money to all account holders.

HDFC BANK is debiting this charge on monthly basis and without prior notice which is agaisnt RBI guidlines on customer services wherein the banks were required to give one month's prior notice for any service charges levied on the account. This is not the only service charge that the banks are illegally enriching themselves on many counts and against RBI norms. more
