Can a government employee be a partner or just investor (no other role in the company) in any firm..... pls. suggest or pls. give details in this regard.

You can take the permission of the Department and invest the money through proper channel. more

Conduct Rules for Govt. Emp. and Service Regulation for Public sector emp. are not in favour or permitting to become a partner or director or doing any business and including charitable/philanthropic activities. They are the public servants and must be available for the public service at any time as they are paid for all the days with lot of service benefits.Though there also the service hours are applicable, being a govt servant they are part of discharging sovereign function and their services are to be available at any time. They can go for investment of tax saving without any body's permission. Can get shares through IPO for their genuine investment needs and not for the purpose of trading or speculation besides informing to the employer annually in the prescribed returns. more
