its to provide more service , rather than earn profit. profit is also a must for development, but not on the shoulders of the poor. senior citizens are not given the previous facility of discount/ concession, which was withdrawn in corona period.
on the other hand, they are suffering from bank low interest rates on FDs.their earning for livelihood is the interest earned on their hard earned money, which they deposit in banks.
only 0.50% extra is given, is it fair?

To be very frank, current Govt thinks that Senior Citizens are liability, and hence they do not want to give any Rebate/Concessions to them and slowly slowly, what ever are there, they are abolishing them. more

Yes, the facility must be restored forthwith. The government should not expect to make the railways a profit earning entity by withdrawing the only facility made available to the senior citizens of the country. Senior citizens of the nation deserve concessionary facilities in every walks of life alike most of other countries of the glove, where their senior citizens are given concessions even in cinemas and barber shops. On the contrary, our government do not hesitate to recover income tax even from pension being paid to the seniors, which is a shame for the entire nation. If the nation is so hungry for money, why not it reconsider to make agricultural income taxable , when it is well known that the decision to keep agricultural income out of the purview of income tax was a political decision ! more

We in India still have problem understanding economics. We have all these government run services such as railways that have abused the system by the bureaucrats running it and misused tax money over the years. I think if this generation is smart they would ask for explanation how our railways are running and what economic condition is the department is at the current time. This should be done in a truthful manner. After that you make the changes. That is the responsible way of doing things at this time. For years the government had been running things in reddy making this department as a jobs program. No one cared about principles if HR. You have an example of what badly run services can be like in Air India. Please try that before asking for concessions and free stuff. more

Why? Where does the money come from? your next generation paying taxes right?. In these times when country had been through tough economic shape with less people paying taxes due to pandemic job situation but our generation keep wanting the same give ...give. more

Agree 💯 with you. That irctc concession must must be restored. Otherwise bjp will lose thirty percent votes more
