Senior citizen given upper berth in 1st AC. Youth below

My 71-year-old husband has been given the upper berth in 1st ac in today's Delhi Mumbai rajdhani 12951. He boarded at Kota.
I think this is a crying shame that the Indian Railways has given the lower berths to able- bodied younger people.
Shameful does not describe adequately what the Railways has done wrong. more

Senior Citizens are more or less written off stuff for Govt of India. They are liability for the Govt. As Longevity is increasing they are becoming liability for Govt as well as for Kids. Senior Citizens must have "Right to die" authority. Govt is finding it difficult to pay Pension. They are hardly 1-2 Crores. Balance 10-11 Crores are non Pensioner. What about them? All are not Rich? more
Who bothers about senior citizens in this country. more
The I st AC Tickets gets seat allocation manually before train dep. 6 -8 hrs as it is very small passengers in No. & there is No such hard Job. It can be finished within 15-20 minutes. In Other class the software changes are required for Point to point destination. If Passenger get in Midway then sometimes it is difficult to allot. But same time rly should give option to continue with allotted seat travel or Cancellation just by charging reservation fee. No any charges should be applied on Sr. Citizen ticket cancellation . Rly is not in loss in any case as the same teat can be allotted to other passenger. But the Sr, Citizen should take decision immediately for travel , either continue or not. Not to wait till 11 th hrs. more
Railways sheer apathy. Indeed, crying shame. Just the way Indian Railways handles most passenger requests! Easily booking algorithms help. Railways listening? more
It's a sheer negligence on the part of Railways and this must stop. So much has been written but the railway pays no heed to such request. more
