Senior Citizens have lost privileges

Almost 4 crore senior citizens were forced to pay full fare for their travel since railways suspended their concessions due to the COVID outbreak in March 2020.

Is this being done so railways can be privatised soon. Ridiculous. more

It's worth to Give Senior citizens concessions in Railway both in Rate and Lower Birth. The Ministry must consider. more
Many privileges were withdrawn due to Covid by Railways. But now that the originality of the trains has been restored in many cases then why not concessions, beddings and food supply? This is ridiculous. Bedding is very much essential for long distance trains especially in AC coaches. How can passengers of different age group travel without bedding. Railway Minister attention is drawn in this respect through Local Circles more
Scale and scope of railways makes this transportation means a socio-economic one rather than purely economic. Railways most ecologically friendly overland transport option, so if any measure improves rail ridership, for example such measure must be considered, one being senior citizen discount, as better that trains run full, than partially so. Railways induce other economic opportunities, on board catering being one, generating employment, so consider all these factors to revitalise railways. more
You are absolutely wrong. This government has different priorities and these certainly are not development of the country. The Railways have been fleecing the consumers by increasing fares by naming the trains as Special. When people are in distress, it is the duty of the government to provide relief not become a blood sicker. You know how senior citizens manage their lives. Concessions of all MPs and MLAs should be withdrawn to give concession to the deserving. more
Mr Social worker you have a railway that is run my government so what do you think is going to happen. This USSR type socialist model of running rail or any of the transport is going to run in loss just like Air India did. All of this should be made in to private run and take away all the generous breaks given to employees, family and elected officials. more
It is very pathatic that Railway concession for Senior Citizen has removed from the year 2020 due to covid 19 pandamic and it is not yet revoked. Further, Govt has reduced interest rate on bank deposits including Senior Citizen deposit rates. Retired Senior citizens are depend on interest income those who are not provided pension. Govt. is not planning to protect the Senior Citizens and general public. They are planning to attract vote bank only. more
