Sensitisation of Police Forces about Businesses
The localcircles and the India Police Foundation should roll out some sort of program where they sensitise police forces about new age businesses. most police officials at sho, inspector levels are not aware about how business functions and if a fraudster walks in making a complaint against a big brand, i have noticed they easily get carried away and register a FIR. A FIR means unnecessary harassment for a sme or startup or even big businesses. This is not to say that if someone is running a ponzi scam or 200 rupee mobile phone they should not be booked. they should be. but genuine businesses doing great value ad must not be harassed by police.

Police department needs acquire new skills, change attitude and infrastructure to work. I tried to register a complaint on website of traffic police Kanpur, but neither webpage is working nor email is reaching to them. more

It is not the question of SME / start ups. Police officers work as per law but it need to change mind set. Big companies like Amazon does not care for the customers. Their associates are free to cheat public. Only a criminal action can put them right. Even our Customer Affair minister find himself before fraudster businessmen. more

Police corruption has a long history in the country and it will take hard and thoughtful work to move the needle in this area. Perhaps the whole process of filing FIR etc should be re-examined and new rigorous processes that would serve the public should be set up. more

A serious orientation course is required to sensitize the police. Also there should be very stern punishment for corruption and deliberate mischief against innocent citizens. Unless the police force is made totally accountable no improvement can be expected. But the problem is that law and order is a state subject and central government can do very little in this regard except issuing some sort or advisory or prepare a training program. It has to be implemented by the state government only and how far it will happen depends on the level of honesty of the political class at the state level, especially of those in power. more
