Electric Vehicles are an option, not the only option. 2 wheeler EVs are running well in other countries because the batteries are replaceable and there are public charging ports. Just check out on youtube. There are several videos of the same. One pays through an app or a QR code for the replacement battery and life goes on. But not in India. RWAs are a major problem - no charging ports planned. And even if the individual wants to have his or her own, it is nearly impossible to get the RWAs to agree even if you want to do it at your own cost. This scooter is viable only if you are in an independent house/villa/gated community or on the ground floor. Ola scooters are sealed engines. The battery cannot be replaced. This is a very important fact that nobody wants to talk about. They are tested, but the testing standards are not revealed to anyone. Try using a PLI or invoke RTI and see what response you get. Zilch! Anything that runs on pure electronics can be hacked. And if that happens every electric scooter that uses a lithium battery can become a potential weapon. All it takes is a determined bunch of dark minds to wreck havoc. And the world has no dearth of educated terrorists. Of late terrorists are university graduates and some with Ph.Ds. One should not get carried away by a fad. Just because one has money it need not be wasted on something that is untested and at least under the current scenario - unreliable. Lets think things through before buying a new "toy" and junking it once the interest wanes. more

Avoid all electric scooter if your are living in a housing society or have a little longer distance too go. More so if you are a tenant. Practically all rwa's ( usually run by caucuses of retired painful uncles or the builders cronies holding flats) create objections to putting a charging point. The electricity deppt doesn't appear to be coop either for allowing permission to take direct connection from meters down below on the ground floor. Govt must pass order to all housing societies to compulsorily allow each flat owner to have his own charging point with no intervention of electricity deptt. Action be taken against RWA's President and Secy if they object or obstruct. RWA's are the biggest nuisance in this country. Extending cable from 4th or 5th floor to your scooter below is quite a nuisance. Besides there are hardly any charging stations so one can use vehicle for only half the mileage otherwise it is point of no return. Then push it since there is no reserve like petrol bikes. CHARGING IS A BIG HASSLE. It is only good for pizza shops who go deliver and come back and put on charge again and again. more
