Indeed good to see progress on this service charge levying by restaurants and now tax scrutinies will happen for restaurants that charge service charge.
Can all income tax commissioners be given access to thic circle so when people report they can get the message and they can drive enforcement.

Payment of service charges has already been made optional. If such charges are added to a restaurant bill, the concerned customer can flatly refuse to pay. Only thing is that the customers have to oppose levying of such charges. There is no point in becoming goody goody at the time of making payment of the bills and lodging complaints thereafter. more

Let this "service charge" be banned by the government and it should be treated as offence. more

In the news papers it is mentioned to cpmplain to CBDT against restaurants who are charging service charges.A nice move but should initiate contact numbers and e mail id. more
