Service Charge on e-ticket

The Railway must do away with service charge on e-ticket.
Private companies usually provide discount on on-line payment, the railway must also provide discount on e-ticket to encourage passengers to book/purchase tickets on line rather than buying ticket at counters.
The Railways can save millions of rupees , if majority of passengers opt for e-ticketing for the following simple reasons:

1. Lesser counters will mean lesser manpower to man the ticketing counter.
2. Cost of setting up new ticketing cum reservation counter at cities/towns can be reduced which will reduce the operating costs.
3. No. of existing ticketing cum reservation counter at cities/towns can be reduced which will reduce the operating costs further.
4. By providing discount, passengers will be encouraged to opt for e-ticketing. more

Service Tax for e-ticket may kindly be removed forthwith. I agree with all others in this regard. more

During Moslem rule Jasiah -the tax for travelling on Hindus was imposed Akber was wise to do away with it. Like Tuglek again the tax for travelling is imposed to all being secular country. When the charges are for traveling where is the question of separate charges for E TICKETING and then service tax/surcharge etc. Remove the toll charges having established the system long back. Knowing the elements of costing in this area Railways should add to cost of ticket if required. Best wishes more  
Absolutely correct.Since we do e ticket and insist others to do so it is a long gesture to reduce Railways operating cost.It should be rewarded by railway to remove service charge from e ticket. more
