There was a time, when people went fir ACs called as 'assembled ACs' as they were cheaper because excuse duty etc were not there for those 'assembled' products. Quality also was a problem. But, people looking at only cheap prices went for these. Slowly due to change in laws, now these are not available. Now in a similar way AC units are serviced or repairs by the same companies/ service technicians. The cost, CHEAPER. Quality of service? I leave it to you for your answer! Again, no taxes here. But most of the authorised 'sales and service dealers' do not and can nit do such services. They pay taxes. Quality? If you are aware of it, I need nit say anything here. But if you are nit aware, try it and then share your experience here, please. I agree, a few dealers are still finding ways to continue the old practice, and you suited. There is another dimension to this issue: Some clients, who own multiple AC units in their homes, avail of AMC or IMC services from the dealers, BUT FOR LESS THAN THE ACTUAL NUMBER OF UNITS THEY POSSESS. And when the 'other' product fails they lodge a complaint with the dealer and make the technician visit. There they tell him the real story and inside on repair for 'that' product paying cash at a cheaper price! You may suffer latter, but the dealer suffers truly. Like life insurance AMC, or at least IMC is better here. But people are prepared to spend more money for outings etc, and try to save money by not going for AMC etc, though all ACs need regular service. A by product of this practice is, dealers loosing technicians as after a few months or years all technicians start earning this way. Though the happenings can be extended to the results appearing because buying a product from such authorised dealers or RETAILERS, I am not touching that subject, as it is beyond the range of the question raised here. For service, always go to authorised dealers, and not that neighborhood AC shop in the corner. I am happy that a question has been raised this way, where all get benefiited, you, the dealer, and the govt. You may ask, is that technician not affected? My answer us, NO. Ater he understands the importance of question raised by you, and how his life is going to be affected in the long run, he MAY continue working, till he he reaches a level of understanding and becomes at least an authorised SERVICE dealer, if not a "sales and service dealer Yes, changes are happening, and I am happy in every way.
