Sewerage/Sanitation Benchmarks for Smart Cities

Below are the key benchmarks our Smart City team has come up with for Sewage and Sanitation in Smart Cities:

1) 100% households should have access to toilets
2) 100% schools should have separate toilets for
girls
3) 100% households should be connected to the
waste water network
4) 100% efficiency in the collection and treatment
of waste water
5) 100% efficiency in the collection of sewerage
network

Kindly help us identify additional benchmarks for Sewage and Sanitation or refine the above further.

We look forward to your inputs!

100% households having dust bins and garbage collection system. 100% house holds having separate hazardous waste disposal system more
This is in response to Mr Radhakrishnan D. Krishnan's comment: Though it is a good idea to keep two bins for wet and dry waste for every street, it is most likely they overflow and also face the threat of not getting cleared everyday and stink attracts mosquito breeding of unknown proportions to the detriment of the residents' health. The present practice of the garbage rikshaws under the supervision of the Resient Welfare Associations with the residents paying for pick up of the garbage is a good move and it should be continued. Systems depend upon the maturity levels of the population. Thebin culture of the west is the best when the citizens know their responsibility; when the bins are provided with lids; when the bins are regularly cleaned with disinfectants by the citizens and the collection bins at the street corners also get the same vigilant treatment from the Municipalities and Corporations. more
Why gas is not collected from sewerage treatment plant. more
Every street should be provided with a proper place for dumping of garbages etc. If the citizens of the respective street tries to keep the surround clean and neat, the entire street will become Clean. So it is absolutely necessary, to provide the garbage dumping place, in suitable place, to all the villages, towns, cities etc,.. The respective Government machinery has to initiate appropriate action to provide a garbage dumping place and also proper and adequate action for removal of garbages at frequent intervals. Simply talking and advertising in media shall never suffice and lead to success of the programme - CLEAN INDIA. A separate monitoring and implementing Authority should be there, under the control of Prime MInisters' office. Each and every Panchayat, zilla parishad, Municipal, corporation, state, Union territory etc should honour respect with the same spirit with all its importance and seriousness with which our Prime Minister proclaimed and announced the programme. It is not a mere political slogan announced our Prime Minister but it is the basic inevitable ingredients for REVIVAL AND RENEWAL OF LIVES OF ENTIRE CITIZENS OF INDIA more
