All residents of Delhi and NCR are requested to share their opinion on whether schools should be shut across India and in Delhi NCR atleast till May 31 in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. more
We should take a call depending on how well we are able to contain the outbreak. An important issue is locking down the children, especially age group 6-14 is going to have an adverse effect on their mental well being. Being totally isolated and having no physical or other activity is going to take a huge toll. We need to address this issue. If the spread is contained and situation normalises with no cases being reported for over a week we should gradually open schools, educational institutes in a phased manner. Also Counsellors should be trained to handle the anxiety and depression in children(who because they don't understand will not be able to explain their problems). Government should consider reducing the Academic Year if the need be. We will have experts telling us that we should encourage the children to study by themselves and supervise them, that is fine it is being done, but what about the news channels and the info being spread. Children are more prone to get afraid as they are at a tender age and don't understand all this. We need to escalate this issue and form support groups to combat this. more
