Sharing excess profits with consumer

I keep reading in posts in circles and news that business will benefit from gst as they can take input tax credits and they should pass it to consumer.

Can gst authorities or knowledgeable circle members please share how its supposed to work? Has anyone started passing such benefits to consumers? What brands?

Also what is the anti profiteering clause. more

Bharti Airtel has now providing a new look website to see your bills. The website does not even show the GST paid, just some total value. They have stopped sending emails which provides you a bill showing taxes paid etc. Can they do this & get away with it? more

I hardly see any essential commodity becoming cheap, after GST. Infact prices have increased. Grains, sugar, pulses and other vital items have become costlier. Input tax credit benifit seems to have remained on paper. But we can not blame government for this. A system is introduced, but as our habit is, we strive to take it's undue advantage, rather than following it in spirit. more

In my view, the provision of input tax credit was available in VAT also. VAT was also a value added tax that means the input tax credit was also afforded. Secondly it is not expected for any price reduction. The commodities where the price reduction was possible significantly have been kept out of purview of GST. more
