Shopkeeper encroachment in Delhi

This pavement outside a shop in hauz khas mkt a few hrs ago was free for walking as the special task force sprung into action. But now business is back to usual.

What can be done by Govt to get these shopkeepers to adhere to rule of law?

Also, we as aware citizens should boycott them? Any takers more

Majority of people will like the action of Government. Any unauthorised extension is to be dealt with stronger hands. First persuation followed by punishment more
I am glad to receive this mail. I totally agree with you. It is not the job of Govt only. It is also the responsibility of citizen. From: Rohini Sahni Sent: Sun, 06 May 2018 06:47:24To: anilgupta1959@rediffmail.comSubject: "Shopkeeper encroachment i..." more
Most encroachments in authorised shopping zones are by shop owners themselves. Think about it, if you own a shop in a market will you allow a person to squat in the corridor or, footpath outside your shop to set up wares! In fact what is happening, the shop owners 'rent out' the space to vendors for a monthly amount, of course collected in cash. And the vendors are responsible for handling the MCD and the Police to turn a blind eye. This is probably true in 99% of the case. I know one shopkeeper in a prominent market in South Delhi who has allowed an old employee of his to sit outside his shop and sell fresh fruit to make a livelihood. Although he is not taking any money from the vendor (so he says), I think this is pathetic as he could give him a respectable job in his own business if he is so concerned of his welfare. Perhaps the MCD and Police should be pressured to start challaning the shop owner who allows any vendor to squat. Will it happen? more
We need to have a place dedicated to Hawkers marketing their products and regular marketing areas they should not be allowed to encroach. Let it be joint responsibility of MCD and Local Police Station , SHO to Beat Level. It is Beat Level Officer , who is in regular touch with personnel in his area. more
All public places should be made free of encroachment. more
Simply shop ki extension is so damn common, fines by MCD are no solution but a way to encourge hafta. Lets get to seal them, as our pitra app of traffic cop, why not such an app for shops extension too...MCD listening!! more
