SHOULD THE FORMER C.M’S BE ELIGIBLE FOR PRIVILEGES
The U.P. Government has told the S.C. that the former C.M.’s are a privileged class and deserve to enjoy certain benefits after demitting office. This should not be taken as a stray case in U.P. alone . There is good chances that it will spread to other states also . The main interest of Law makers should be towards development of the constituency and serving the people .
The Tamilnadu Assembly had doubled the salary for M.L.A.’s before resolving pending retirement benefits for the transport workers for years. Legislators even before fulfilling the electoral manifesto and promises should never go for their pay hike . It is a pity we are electing the same old legislators / party who have failed to deliver service to the people.
The attached paper clipping from The Hindu of 29th will have many questions . Some which came to my understanding :
* Law makers keep making and bringing in such amendments [as in the U.P. Assembly wanting privileges for former C.M.’s] should think of where the funds will come from . And land for such will be created from if the former ones are privileged to stay in the house. Do they want to evict normal citizens and put up these former C.M.’s .
*Further the demand will go from C.M. to the Ministers and so on.
* Privy purses ordinance was brought in the 70’s and the Rulers / kings / vassals accepted the ordinance after enjoying their privileges for decades and generations . There are no more kings and Rajas in India now. Every one have to work for their bread.ARE THEY TRYING TO REINTRODUCE THIS SYSTEM .
HOWDO WE KNOW OUR LEGISLATORS BEFORE ELECTING WHETHER THEIR INTEREST IS CONSTITUENCY FIRST OR THEIR PERSONAL INTEREST FIRST ? Jai Hind. more
