Shramik Express

The Govt has taken right decision to start Shramik express for migrant workers . These are fully reserved point to point services run as per demands of state government. Initially the governments have done right thing by picking up workers from shelter homes and institutional quarantine centres only. It has considerably reduced burden on state health services and vacated beds and other facilities.
As these trains are meant only for stranded workers and not for all migrated workers, the best course of action shall be to verify the mobile records of the applicants and workers living beyond two months should not be allowed in these trains.

In any circumstances, Railway cannot ferry all the workers even in next two months so extra ordinary steps should be taken to ensure that only needy workers are allowed to use these trains.
The mad rush for free travel with prizes and other facilities is likely to create several law and order problems in coming days. So far Public at large does not know about running of these trains so there is a relative calm every where, With passing days, it is likely to create law and order problem by workers who are not lucky enough to be selected. more

The running of special "Shramik Express" is a temporary arrangement for the stranded workers, who are held up at different states. People who wants to take undue advantage will be causing inconvenience for the future. more
Yes Subhas Parakh is wright railway how to manage the salary of employees in working as well as pensioners, and since last three days it is also seen on most of news channels that with other public labors are also standing in quoe for purchase of liquor, when they purchase the liquor on high rates that they can pay for travel expense. more
The facility should be strictly provided only to the stranded migrant workers from other states on daily wages and have lost their jobs due to the lock down. These workers have been living on daily earnings and literally have no food and shelter neither have money to buy due to prolonged lock down and having no work. As per the demand of the situation, the government should apply a complete humanitarian approach and allow these unfortunate people to travel free of cost and ensure that none of them travel without food. Their journey back to home should be completely free of any cost. If the country and its government can run without any work in any front of productivity for a period of around two months, it is illogical to say that one time free services can't be provided by the government to these poor people. It is its moral duty to do so. It is foolishness to claim that these people have enough money to bear the cost at a time when there is no job for last two months and it is beyond imagination as to how these people and their families are surviving without earnings. more
Not only railways but nearly all govt services have employed "excess manpower". Probably triple then what a private sector company doing the same job will. Now if they are to be sustained then that govt department cannot claim losses and recover from public just because govt has monopoly of railways or airlines or postal or such services. Moreover govt must take care of migrant workers and see them home till situation stabilizes and not count pennies. It doesn't cost much and in any case railway employees are doing no work and getting paid; so sending them to do some work does not increase expenditure enormously. probably 95 % of wages will in any case be paid without doing work. So the extra running allowances should not make a big chunk. In fact railways should be restarted immediately. more
The BJP Govt in Gujarat and Karnataka are charging rail fare from labourers and have done nothing to get them their due wages from employers. In Maharashtra doctors are charging rs 450 for health certificates made mandatory by local Govt. These states depend on migrant labour who are ill paid and ill treated which they tolerate for the sake of job. Once lockdown is liftedsame states will ask for labour to return, yet they treat them as aliens. more
The statement is not correct. Railways can not run free services and are charging only 15%. more
