I had witnessed same situation atleast 3 occasions causing inconvenienced for my sleeping as a Sr.Citizen that too having undergone spinal surgery twice. I draw the attention of Railway authorities to resolve this issue atleast for those passengers who are having some physical problem while booking ticket. Just like whilst booking tickets in advance on state roadways buses and/or private long distance buses (VOLVO buses e.g.), there are berth maps through which berths/seats can be booked as per choice before having to pay for the same, so also the IRCTC should also display a berth map and respect and allow booking of tickets as per the desires of the travellers and not arbitrarily as is presently the case. more
As a rule even if youngsters book three months in advance they should not be allotted lower berths unless physical handicap or some extraneous documentary evidence is produced. The moment chart is prepared it should ensure all senior citizens are allotted comfortable lower berths or of their choice. If more senior citizens are there who are seeking lower berths than the limitation of number of berths alternative can be desired from them. more
I agree. We sr.citizens face many problems in getting a lower berth and even you get one it is side berth which is more inconvenient. Mostly AC is not properly functioning and only one fan is provided. We should hv two fans. Recently I travelled in III AC as no berth was available in II NDTV AC. The Toilet was so,dirty and no water was available in one toilet. Change these to Hygienic and user friendly toilets. One more important thing in many coaches Western toilets are not provided. Have mercy on sr.citizens. more
