Side Berth Woes, especially in 2A

Railway passengers who are allotted Side berths don't enjoy the following facilities:
1. No provision for keeping Water Bottle
2. No provision for handing hand bags
3. No mobile charging point
Besides the above, the width of the seat is also shorter than the seats inside the bay, thus the entire journey is very uncomfortable for the side berth passenger
In view of the above, when the Railways are not in a position to accommodate the above facilities, they must give concession and/or discounts in the tariff to such side berth passengers. Taking full fare and not providing the facilities is unjustifiable.
I am a frequent traveller by 2A and most of the times, even being a senior citizen of over 70 years age, I get the side berth and that too upper one utter disregard for senior citizens. more

Not only the width but even the length of the side berths in 2AC has been reduced. So if a person is 5.9 feet tall he can not get sleep properly on the berth either length wise or width wise, even after paying full fare. more
Adding to that for no similar facilities Indian Railways is charging same price for all berths allotted to passengers, even when no berths allotted to passenger they at 1st charge full price and when berths are not confirmed returns money deducting commenting amount. When Railways is not able to provide service, how can they deduct money from booking amount ? It acts unreasonably, illogically and illegally ? And Govt. allowed it to run as like a private organisation. Disgusting. This what Govt. says better facilities ? I agree with Mr. Ram more
Side berths in 2A are not worth the 2A fares which the Railways charge. These should be charged 3A fares only. more
It is condition in old run coaches and hence problem goes on. more
Coach design and qualiy control people should continuously try to improve design which is not done at all. Windows in non AC coaches do not close properly resulting in cool breeze putting commuters in uncomfortable condition. It seems after making first design, no one has bothered to see what improvements need to be done. more
