On a different note I have realized that doctors in India (most of them) are quick to prescribe the anti biotic because patient want faster results. The side effect of anti biotic are many, which are short term and long term, you can google and check. The health authorities abroad (Europe, Middle East) etc have strict rules and doctors can only prescribe anti biotic if all other means have been tried. It is common in such countries that initially doctor will try to treat you with normal medicines and see the condition at least for a week. Even if the antibiotic needs to be prescribed the patient is told that why he decided to prescribe the antibiotic and what the side effects. I expect similar practice and courtesy from doctors in India. So choose your doctor wisely and generally go for the one who is cautious about the use of such medicines. more
Antibiotics have been feared and blamed for a long time. In every case it should be weighed whether an antibiotic is required or not in the first place. If it is then it should be taken in full dose for the complete prescribed period. In any healthy person short courses of antibiotics taken twice or thrice in a year have generally no adverse effects . Most of them are quite safe to ingest but should not be self prescribed. It should be taken when advised by the doctor though unfortunately, these are randomly irrationally prescribed by many in our country. more
Antibiotics are among the most commonly prescribed medications. An antibiotic side (adverse) effect is an unwanted reaction that occurs in addition to the desirable therapeutic action of the antibiotic. When used appropriately, antibiotics are relatively safe with very few side effects. However, like any drug, antibiotic side effects can occur and may interfere with the patient’s ability to tolerate and finish the course of medication. Antibiotic reactions can range from mild allergic reactions to severe and debilitating adverse events. Antibiotic side effects are extremely variable from patient to patient and from antibiotic to antibiotic. However, there are some common side effects that may occur within antibiotic drug classes , as described: Penicillins: May cause rash, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting, drug fever, hypersensitivity (allergic) reactions One can try Homeopathy or Ayurvedic Medicines before going on Antibiotics. more
