Fat on eye lids is not a certain sign of high cholesterol. For few years I had high cholesterol, sometimes up to 275, but never had fat on eye lids. My all brothers and sisters to have high cholesterol, but none have eyelids fat. In my personal case, during high cholesterol period, when I climb high on stairs, there is breathing problem. I tried many medications including Ayurvedic formulations but only Allopathic medicine Atorvastatin worked. By this I do not mean to say that breathing problem after high rise stairs is the only sign of high cholesterol or one can take Atorvastatin without consultation with doctor as strength of medicine for different compositions of cholesterol i.e Total, LDL, VLDL, HDL, Triglyceride are also important including decreasing or increasing the strength with time phase. Long term use of statins lead to decrease in muscle strength and increase in muscle pain. Yoga, Pranayama, diet with very less fats, walk and exercise also play very important role in reducing cholesterol in long run and after coming to normal limit of cholesterol by medicines, one should try to maintain normal cholesterol by these methods for healthy life. more
