Sign the Petition for fair business
I have raised a petition to the Department of Consumer Affairs, Govt of India for issue of a notification on retailers practices of charging taxes on MRP/ Revised MRP or Discounted Sale Price as unfair trade practices in violation of MRP rules in tune with adjudication by Hon'able State Commission and Hon'able National Commission.
The petition is yet to be signed by many many members who have already spared their valuable time in going through the petition.

Unless the members cooperate in taking up the issue with the concerned authorities, it would be difficult for me to awake the authorities for a fair business practices.
While expressing my gratitude to the members who have already signed the petition, I would make an appeal to the members who are yet to sign the same. It shall be another feather in the cap if the members can appeal to their contacts to sign the petition as it is of public interest. more

It is very clear that Maximum Retail Price is inclusive of all taxes i.e. Sales Price + All Taxes e.g. Sales Tax, VAT or GST/CGST constitutes MRP. Naturally, when MRP is discounted or revised upward or downward the mentioned taxes automatically get adjusted and not charged additionally. There is absolutely no anomaly in the procedure. The anomaly is at the end of Chartered Accountant who are supposed to audit the accounts of the retailer or e-tailor before sending the tax return to the Department of the State's Taxation where the returns are assessed on the basis of Tax Invoices presented by the party. It is also a fact that most of the retailers or e-tailers maintain duplicate books of accounts where the cash memos/tax invoices issued to the consumers are different from the ones presented to the Department of Taxes of the State where only a few genuine invoices are presented for on-the-spot exceptional inspections. Since the Govt of India at the time of making budgetary proposals in respect of taxes on sales of goods and services does not announce the format of the Tax Invoice and procedure of collection by the State Government, there is the anomaly. And, just in humour, the 'badmashi' is at the retailers' end who deliberately create sense of misunderstanding by the trade. I sign this petition of Shri S. K. Virmani to the Directorate of Legal Metrology for issuing an early notification in consonance with the consumer forum orders mentioned by the petitioner. more
