Simple Do-it-Yourself pressure points for small ailments

For last one week I have been reading Yoga Sadhna & Chikitsa Rehasya, by Swami Ramdev.
On pages 142 to 166 are given various guidelines and illustrations of the points where to apply accu-pressure with your thumb.

I can say one thing for sure I looked for points for relieving pain of my neck/shoulder due to spondilities, high blood pressure and sinus problem of my wife.
I found point no. 5 , 20 for blood pressure
point nos. 37,38,39 for all shoulder pains
these points are all on the periphery of ear. I have been highly relieved by just pressing for 10 seconds 2/3 times a day.
For sinus just one pressure on point no.11 next to the right side of nose on the face has relieved obstructive in breathing.
I think it is worth a try. more  

That's true Dr Saumya, applying pressure beyond the required one leads to problem. more  
Mr. Prem Das, I am pressing the said points and I am relieved of pain by nearly 90% in my neck,back,shoulder pain in just 5 days. I am still contnuing though I now forget sometime as my pain is relieved by 90%. I will explain ; just where a parent catches a childs ear you will see the c-shaped earbone. just slightly above where the c-bone lower ends try pressing very slightly if there is pain on pressing any where along the bone are points no.37,38,39 for backpain, shoulder pain shoulder joint pain. I have been pressing whenever I remember to do so during morningwalk. while sitting on sofa watching tv mild pessure for 10 seconds. If you slide and press your fingers along the various flesh and bones of your ear you may find some aching less while some are aching more and some not all. please note simple pain of just pressing will be different from aching pain where there is a problem. please call me 9873915166 and i will explain in more detail or please come over to my house i will guide you fully. Dr. Saumya Mittal, it does not require a physiotherapist, it only needs study of right books and right understanding to be able to do the right things. more  
this is not my field. however i gotta say i have qualms. this is supposed to be applied by experts. rumors have it that pressure beyond what is supposed to be applied may actually increase the problem , rather than relieving it. any opinion from a physiotherapist???? more  
Thanks for your message about pressure points.Can you tell me specifically where exactly are the pressure points for back pain , neck pain, knee pain and high blood pressure.
