Skill Training for jobs creation

How can we create jobs when we are not building skills in our youth right from schools? What can college graduates in our present education system is worth including engineering graduates. Once the person get a graduate degree he will accept only white collar jobs which cannot absorb all these graduate whose value for society in nothing except the paper on which the degree is written. The result is that we have millions unemployed but they are not worth employing.

Unless we make skills training compulsory at school level from class 8 onward whatever we try, we will not succeed. Why today we cannot get a plumber or proper electrician, because the youth have no training and old generation whatever skills they had are reducing in numbers.

The present approach of Skill Training by Govt. is not effective and needs a re-look. more

Professional Training classes in Schools/Jr. Colleges, and , Physical and Chemical labs Jr./Colleges, and, Professional institutions like ITI , Politechnic etc., as carried in all Schools and Colleges, before Privatization of Education without such Regulations , IS TO BE RE-INSTATED MANDATING ALL TO FOLLOW. A Team lead by Professor Sri Bolanath Datta has been working for improving reasonable Knowledge Skills in Higher Education to create amployability and Earning Ability to re gain the Skilled and Talented Education as was in the past upto 90s . Indeed, all Citizen joining together shall move Supreme Court of India for such miscarry allowed by the Governments while privatization of Education since after 90s. The detailed and Specific alerting message about Education by the honourable President of India in 2013 in his Independent Day Message commenting on Elementary, Intermediate and College Education highlighting the performance of Universities promoted comprehensive Skills and Talents of the past . THIS ITSELF IS THE PROOF THAT THE CITIZEN WERE SET TO DETERIORATED EDUCATION that made general public still Strive and Starve without minimum knowledge to Earn and Educate, as well as Study/Learn and Earn livelihood. more
There was an observation in the recent industry letters that 80% of engineering graduates have no skill fir employability in India. The truth is that there is no standard teaching/ training methodology in the institutes. But medical field is better placed in InDia . Other professions where unrelated degree holders enter need special training needing orientation and speculation in house training. The other tragedy is that technical jobs in day to day life like plumbers, electricians ,fitters ,mechanics driverscarpenters , builders ,Mason's, painters ,even hair dressers, make up men , beauty parlours employees are the biggest untrained group are not fit to do jobs perfectly as their work is shoddy ,crude and some times damaging to the people who employ them. How many are ITI / polytechnic schools trained ?Only 2-5 % of them rest are working as apprentices and then after some time launch in to free lancers. It pains me to see that none are fit in their jobs if you take them out of this country. They are half baked at best! They cause more problems, damage ,lack standard. Even civil constructions and road building by the contractors these people are hired and there fore so many calamities like buiding collapses , building fires, motor accidents . A big revolutionary law must be brought that all these categories need a course of training in vocationa schools and a certificate before practicing their professions. The Mason who cannot build a wall straight, the plumber who cannot repair a bathroom, the electrician who causes short circuit, the mechanic who is fiddling with the bike with out knowing the solution are seen daily by us .They all fumble when they see a different looking tool not made in India .Such is the tragedy that we have no skilled low level technicians even. It is shame full that we see the same fellows working well in Gulf ,Far East ,Africa . The standard of working must improve ,then quality will show . Full retraining at all levels is needed.Employability will increase automatically. more
Yes...I do agree with the above...when I used to evaluate engineering graduates or graduates for employing...they could not write a simple English para without mistake...In that lot Girls were better though... more
Skill is using knowledge in a practical way. What is preventing a student coming for carpentry family in using geometry to improve the precision of doors and windows made by the family? Or, what is preventing a person from using the knowledge of food item (carbs, protein, fats, etc.) in improving the quality of food without increasing the cost at her home? There are many ideas that are taught at the primary and secondary school level that have very high practical application. What more knowledge than taught in secondary school level is required to place a few electrical equipment in home and draw the house wiring diagram? The students know series & parallel connections, switches, current, voltage, etc. Yes, they might not know that 6 amp/15 amp switches are available in the market. But once they see around in their own community (village / town / city - whatever), they see different kinds of switches / switch gears. Why are we always blaming the government or education system of not including skills? It is an orientation of the community, that has been cultivated probably during the British era of decline in artisan trades and increasing prestige associated with government (mostly, clerical/writing oriented) jobs. Even in the skill based courses, some students are better at application than others - we see in in Doctors, Engineers, etc. It is the orientation to use the knowledge for some purposes that causes the difference. Therefore, a cultural shift / transformation is needed to bring about the orientation. In my opinion, bringing about a cultural shift / transformation is a socio-political process that is much beyond the Government processes. Can we expect that the government legislation will make the country free of dowry? more
There are many jobs in the market, but people does not want to work or expect to build a house in one day of service. With such aspiratioins unemployment will continue in India forever. It is daily experience that an auto driver who would sit whole day in same place without moving or ferrying passengers, when approached he would say want Rs. 500 or Rs. 1000 & you runaway from him breaking or cursing your luck or fate. So Indians have first to change their minds, till then unemployment will prevail. more
Skill and Talents sustenance require obvious Subject knowledge. System of Bit Questions be sealed at 25% Marks only. Need to reinstate Professional Subjects from 9th Class . more
