SLEEPER COACHES ONLY TO SLEEP ? SITTING ALSO ?

PROBLEM :While booking births in sleeper coaches is it only to sleep or also to sit also? Very often we see IN THE SLEEPER COACHES THE UPPER AND MIDDLE BIRTH ALLOTTEES DO NOT FIND A PLACE TO SIT DURING WAKEFUL TIME ; THE LOWER BIRTH ALLOTTEES CONTINUE TO STRETCH OUT RIGHT THROUGH THE DAY TIME .OTHERS CAN’T GO UP AND SLEEP IN THE MIDDLE AND UPPER BIRTHS DURING DAY TIME ; FOR SOME TIME THEY CAN OPEN THE DOOR AND STAND THERE.

SOLUTION: SLEEPER CLASS PASSENGERS SHOULD BE EDUCATED THROUGH SIGN BOARDS IN EACH CUBICLE STATING
“ To sleep 6 or 8 and seat 6 or 8 in lower births ” . The T.T.E.’s SHOULD ENSURE THE PLACE FOR SITTING FOR THE UPPER AND MIDDLE BIRTH ALLOTTEES DURING DAY TIME.

Railways should not leave it to the passengers and turn a blind eye. more

It is also not possible for the Upper birth allottee to stay up all through the 13 hours time while travelling in Coramandel express. He / she travelling in upper birth also should have breakfast, snax ,Lunch, look through the window the beautiful country side besides reading the news paper and attending to whats app messages ; after lunch on mutual understanding the lower birth allottees may be allowed to sleep for a couple of hours. I am a senior citizen of 72 , I follow what I recommend as above. What will the poor upper birth allottees will do for 13 hours sleep in the day time spend sleepless night ? more
Do not hesitate to share the berth of a sleeping passenger during daytime by asking them to be little uncomfortable so that two other co-passengers can also sit there, though uncomfortably. Let us all get their share in berth sharing, though uncomfortably. Yes, senior citizens should be respected, but a long route journey should not be a frustrating experience for anybody till railway system can think of some innovative designs to take care of special need of senior citizens and day dreaming youths sleeping during daytime while..... more
The issue of use of bearth either for sitting or sleeping, is not to be controlled by rules. It is the tolerance and empathy of passengers, what is needed. Generally speaking bearth is for sitting during day (6 A.M. to 10 P.M)and for sleeping at night. But majority, especially senior citizens, like to sleep a little, during day after lunch. It is humane to allow this. All what matters is the mentality of passengers, not rules. Unnikrishnan more
The cormandel Express leaves Chennai @0845 Hrs and reaches Visakhapatnam @2130.Sr. citizens are normally allotted lower berths. It's not appropriate to ask them(Sr.citizens) to sit all through the day (13 Hrs) or ask them to climb upper berth, the co passengers have to adjust and see the sr. citizens travel comfortable.Of course sr.citizans. should also co-operate more
There should be some rationale and adherence to sleep wakeful cycle that day wake and night sleep. That is a universal practice .There may be some are not able to follow that due to their occupation . My empathy to them. IF THEY LIKE TO SLEEP DURING NORMAL HUMAN WAKEFUL TIME THAT IS 7.00 A.M. TO 10 P.M..THEY SHOULD OPT FOR UPPER BIRTH ; NO ONE WILL DISTURB THEM DAY OR NIGHT. Those who want to follow the day night cycle can be allotted the lower birth because they will be humane to accommodate the others to sit during wakeful hour. PEOPLE WILL HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE BREAKFAST LUNCH & DINNER . IN THE ABSENCE OF A RESTAURANT CAR WHERE WILL THE SIT AND EAT, NEAR THE DOOR AND TOILET. tHEY HAVE ALSO PAID THE SAME AMOUNT TO TRAVEL I have already raised the question of CHOICE OF BIRTH NOT BEING DISPLAYED BEFORE PAYMENT IN E -TICKETING .AS A RESULT AFTER PAYMENT , WHEN THE UNWANTED CHOICE COMES WHAT DO THE UPPER BIRTH ALLOTTEES WILL DO DURING WAKE FULL TIME ? IF IT IS A 24 HOURS LOWER BIRTH RAILWAYS SHOULD CHARGE ONLY 50 %FOR THE NON LOWER BIRTH OCCUPANTS. more
