Dear Gopalan As far as the supplier is concerned it makes no difference for him whether the buyer is a GST registered or non registered party. You need not register if your TO is less than 20 lacs and that you do not have an inter state supply. When you sell you cannot give GST bills and cannot take any ITC more
Can't understand why supplier will not supply to unregistered dealer because they can issue tax invoice even if they are selling to a GST unregistered dealer (very common in B2C transactions). An unregistered dealer or a composition dealer cannot claim input tax credit even if they get a tax invoice. However, customers may be reluctant to buy from an unregistered dealer because they may have to pay GST on reverse charge basis. In case of purchases from composition dealer, they will not get input tax credit because a composition dealer cannot issue tax invoice with separate GST. If someone has a lot of customers who demand Tax Invoice with GST, then it is better to be registered as a regular dealer under GST instead of composition dealer. This will allow both seller as well as buyer to claim input tax credit. more
