Smart Cities core committees with no Town Planners
It is very strange that the new smart city core committees which have been declared have too many bureaucrats, MPs, MLAs, but no town planners, architects, doctors, economists, etc.
Will the smart city project go like most other projects?
Very much hyped, but no content?

The most important task for the committee for Smart Cities is to review the Municipality Act. Present set up of Municipality under State Government is not conductive to development of a smart city with private participation. The Town Planning is a secondary issue. more

However Town Planning is what decides the fate of a city. Hence we cannot wish away town planning. Municipalities as supposed to function under the purview of appropriate town planning, which they don't unfortunately. more
