First of all, the Govt. should strive towards bringing order in their own departments. All these publicity gimmicks are of no use if the corruption level in the governance is not reduced. It is nothing but a face wash !!!! more
Smart Cities are transformed version of existing traditional cities, where by utilizing IT and digital electronics, every infrastructure components and elements of the city can be changed or controlled or configured or optimized in real time as per the emerging demands of human life. So we should have digital plan for the cities and then roll out the enabling infrastructures to match the digital plan and infuse intelligence, and smartness every where such that the city in whole becomes self controlled and self adaptable as per needs of the citizens. more
While I see lots of traction on Smart Cities from my friends in IT / Automation industries and of-course from PMO/Govt. of India, but where are Infra. & EPC folks ?? I hardly see any leadership coming from Strategy & BD heads of Infra/Construction/EPC firms on Smart Cities opportunities !! Until they wake up, it would be difficult for ICT and Automation firms alone to offer integrated proggs. for Smart Cities and to create some real traction towards execution !! What Says Folks ?? Why our Infra / EPC Gaints are not leading the Smart City Wave ?? more
The cities have to be designed in such a way that there is no water logging, drainage system should be well planned and all households should have drain connection. Sewage should be processed and treated to remove chemicals and bio wastes and only then let into rivers or sea. It should have solar street lights that automatically turn on once the visibility drops to a certain range and turn off once visibility is good. Subsidies should be given to households that harvest solar energy. more
