Smart City should end unpredictability from its citizens life, like unpredictable delay due to traffic on road, unpredictable break down of power, buses, road transport, public health, etc. So attention should be how make thinks predictable and how to increase certainty of the events like public services etc. more
Unfortunately it was disappointing to note that all compiled views on definition of Smart City by all those contributed have not been summarised in fruitful manner and still opinion polls continue. Whose responsibility is that? Does anyone from the MoUD read the comments or this good venture to become 'gossip column'. more

Smart city requires money. Apart from this it requires continuous energy supply. Other things required are high level of IT penetration, transit oriented development, Rapid transit system, essential infrastructure & services. It is also expected that the people using it will have high rate of IT literacy. Certain problems need to be attended to before smart cities can be operational: 1Integrated IT 2 information overload 3 data security 4 data privacy Moreover system needs to be protected from hackers, who could bring the operation to a complete halt & put the users in danger. There has to be safeguard against theft of identity, misinformation and erroneous profiling too. Technical experts, architects & city planners are of the opinion that living in smart cities would prove to be convenient, comfortable & hassle free. i have quoted most of the above from the article written by Mr. K. P. Bhattacharjee, architect city planner. His article appeared in the magazine " Architecture Time Space & People" March 2015. more
