Smart City Selection Criteria
Below are the key criteria as suggested by you for selecting a smart city. Kindly review and note that these cities will be picked from the existing cities of India and 100 cities have to be picked. Therefore, it is important the criteria is practical and keeps the current condition of these cities in mind.

Selection criteria for Smart Cities
1. This could be a satellite town to a metro having industries and SEZs
2. It should be a small city having a good infrastructure
3. The city should be well connected with the surrounding states
4. The city should have some level of resilience to disasters - both natural or man made
5. The city should be resource efficient, i.e., Energy, Water, Space
6. The citizens of the city should have demonstrated care for their city through participation in various initiatives
7. The city should have urban local bodies who have proven execution capabilities
8. The civic bodies of the city should have transparent functioning and pro technology
9. The civic bodies must have mechanisms for citizen engagement and encourage participative governance
10. The city should have over 75% planned roads and managed traffic
11. The city environment should be safe for women and children
12. The city should have potential for expansion and population growth
13. The location of these cities should be strategic so that they could decongest the metros
14. The crime rate in the city should be low
15. There should be enough greenery in these cities
16. The city should have a potential to attract tourist
17. The literacy rate in these cities should be high
18. The city should have adequate space and infrastructure for new industries/ services
19. The pollution level in this city should be lower than national average
20. The city police should be pro citizens and have a service oriented mindset
21. The city should have enough schools and colleges more
