Social Corporate responsibility - CSR?
ALL companies/corporates/association of people have to perform this function CSR (as I believe)
What is a corporate? Any enterprise functioning as a business entity is called so.
Anything that is running/ working to make a profit must be called as a corporate or not?
ONLY, for example take politics. Whether they are working or not, is big question, but let us ignore that, as we are more used to that for decades. All parties, and most importantly most politicians are in it for profit. Ignore this also, as we are helpless as on date.
Social responsibility is a must for all entities making a profit. Correct?
But then why only corporates have mostly accepted this responsibility, though their contact with society may not be great, but those who live over society money are not seen in the picture at all?
The above introduces a new component, ‘contact with society' for CSR implementation.
Let me hope that you accept the hard fact that cinema/ movies remain in touch with society for ever.
They do hold a ‘big hold’ on the society. Are they not working for profit? I am avoiding the word ‘huge profit'.
But are they having ANY CSR-corporate responsibility today, besides ‘entertaining the society' as claimed by them?
90% of the cini-stories are written. Very few are true stories.
And many of these written stories
are copied/tried out
in real life
by many fans.
This indicates that they have the power to force fans copy what they see in the screen.
Is this not giving the cinema industry a good opportunity to positively influence the society? Is it not a golden CSR opportunity?
Are they using this? Or for that matter, have they understood this opportunity?
If you are not aware of a news item today, let me partly refer that, as fully referring to that and elaborating on that itself is like committing the same crime, that I am referring to!
As reported in press, “a lady nurse in the state of Telangana has murdered her husband, with the help of her lover: Same time she damaged the face (alone) of the lover and got plastic surgery done to make him look like her dead husband, planning to avoid doubts in the mind of the relatives to live again as the same husband and wife, but on suspicion raised by a few relatives they have been caught and the story has come to light!
AS STATED BY HER LATTER, THE ENTIRE OPERATION WAS PLANNED AFTER SEEING A MOVIE WHICH GAVE THEM THIS IDEA OF KILLING/ACTING ETC!
Do you like the cinema story, or real life happening?
I don’t deny the fact, people get into problems for many reasons: But does such story in a movie reflect any social responsibility? Does the story writer/actor/director not feel bad at all? Is the money earned with this movie feel tasty in any way to them? Can not the film censor refuse to pass such films, on the basis of the story itself?
Is this the “CSR”, as understood by the cini industry?
It is high time the govt reviews CSR/its implementation/list of industries that MUST be covered under CSR.
Corporates do make money, but they do not act like this.
Even TVs manufactured by corporates, though help people watch such movies, also convey to the same viewers many positive happenings.
Simply stating,
CSR definition must be modified,
implementation made very essential,
and anyone making a profit must be made to follow CSR rules:
If needed, non obeyers must be punished latter, including authorities who allow such movies to be produced/released. more
