Social Corporate responsibility - CSR?

Transforming India is a big subject. So I have chosen this as the place to record my idea.

ALL companies/corporates/association of people have to perform this function CSR (as I believe)

What is a corporate? Any enterprise functioning as a business entity is called so.

Anything that is running/ working to make a profit must be called as a corporate or not?

ONLY, for example take politics. Whether they are working or not, is big question, but let us ignore that, as we are more used to that for decades. All parties, and most importantly most politicians are in it for profit. Ignore this also, as we are helpless as on date.

Social responsibility is a must for all entities making a profit. Correct?

But then why only corporates have mostly accepted this responsibility, though their contact with society may not be great, but those who live over society money are not seen in the picture at all?

The above introduces a new component, ‘contact with society' for CSR implementation.

Let me hope that you accept the hard fact that cinema/ movies remain in touch with society for ever.

They do hold a ‘big hold’ on the society. Are they not working for profit? I am avoiding the word ‘huge profit'.

But are they having ANY CSR-corporate responsibility today, besides ‘entertaining the society' as claimed by them?

90% of the cini-stories are written. Very few are true stories.

And many of these written stories
are copied/tried out
in real life
by many fans.

This indicates that they have the power to force fans copy what they see in the screen.

Is this not giving the cinema industry a good opportunity to positively influence the society? Is it not a golden CSR opportunity?

Are they using this? Or for that matter, have they understood this opportunity?

If you are not aware of a news item today, let me partly refer that, as fully referring to that and elaborating on that itself is like committing the same crime, that I am referring to!

As reported in press, “a lady nurse in the state of Telangana has murdered her husband, with the help of her lover: Same time she damaged the face (alone) of the lover and got plastic surgery done to make him look like her dead husband, planning to avoid doubts in the mind of the relatives to live again as the same husband and wife, but on suspicion raised by a few relatives they have been caught and the story has come to light!

AS STATED BY HER LATTER, THE ENTIRE OPERATION WAS PLANNED AFTER SEEING A MOVIE WHICH GAVE THEM THIS IDEA OF KILLING/ACTING ETC!

Do you like the cinema story, or real life happening?

I don’t deny the fact, people get into problems for many reasons: But does such story in a movie reflect any social responsibility? Does the story writer/actor/director not feel bad at all? Is the money earned with this movie feel tasty in any way to them? Can not the film censor refuse to pass such films, on the basis of the story itself?

Is this the “CSR”, as understood by the cini industry?

It is high time the govt reviews CSR/its implementation/list of industries that MUST be covered under CSR.

Corporates do make money, but they do not act like this.

Even TVs manufactured by corporates, though help people watch such movies, also convey to the same viewers many positive happenings.

Simply stating,
CSR definition must be modified,
implementation made very essential,
and anyone making a profit must be made to follow CSR rules:
If needed, non obeyers must be punished latter, including authorities who allow such movies to be produced/released. more

Any Enterprise that involve in more than two Businessses ; Any Individual/ Association that does Business in various Fields and Places ; Any Firm/Company that does or Regulate/Manage more than two Business ; Any Institution/ Profession/ Association that possess more than two Branches, sister-concerns either in that activity or with different activities ;;; ARE TO BE NOTIFIED AS " CORPORATES " . Supreme Court in a Judgment said ' Merit consists of a high degree of intelligence coupled with a keen and incisive mind, sound knowledge of the basic subjects and infinite capacity for hard work and " also calls FOR A SENSE OF SOCIAL COMMITMENT AND DEDICATION TO THE CAUSE OF THE POOR " . ' It is true that those possessing Merit as derived above secures higher profits and gains in Business of whatsoever and hence becomes their SOCIAL COMMITMENT FOR THE PEOPLE working with them ; working for them ; and causing higher profits and gains for them . Social Corporate Responsibility thus to be applied on the above FOUR nature and status of Business and is the Justified application on those possess higher degree of intelligence coupled with various befits that are achieved from out of the Society Living in. Sri S. Sankarasubramanian has brought in the most important ISSUE to be worked out for requisite implementation . more
Every company which is earning profit should be spending some percentage on social responsibility, either by sponsoring school expenditure, beautification of the city / town, provide scholarship to meritorious candidates, support orphanages, support girl-only school, increase awareness on environment & tree protection, planing herbs trees & cultivating them....etc. more
Corporate Social Responsibility has been a business philosophy which stresses the need for firms to behave as good corporate citizens, not merely obeying the law but conducting their production and marketing activities in a manner which avoids causing environmental pollution or exhausting finite world resources. Some businesses have begun to behave in a more socially responsible manner because their Managers want to do so and partly because of fear of environmentalist and consumer pressure groups and the media and concern for their public image. It is argued that socially responsible behavior can pay off in the long run, even where it involves some short-term sacrifice of profit. Profit depends on the main factor of average profit margins . If costs increase the profit margins will be squeezed and if competition forces selling prices downward margins will be similarly squeezed and so vice versa phenomenon. Profit , the difference that arises when a firm's TOTAL REVENUE is greater than its TOTAL COSTS , is Economic Profit’ different from that used conventionally by businessmen (accounting profit) in that accounting profit takes into account only explicit costs. Triple bottom line (TBL) is an accounting framework with three parts of social, environmental/ ecological & financial. Many organizations have adopted the TBL framework to evaluate their performance in a broader perspective to create greater business value.[1] In traditional business accounting , the bottom line refers to either the "profit" or "loss", which is usually recorded at the very bottom line on a statement of revenue and expenses. Environmentalists and Social Judges including the Aya-Gaya-Politicians have struggled to bring a broader definition of bottom line into public consciousness because the government ends up spending taxpayer money . The triple bottom line adds two more bottom lines of social and environmental/ecological concerns. An example of an organization seeking a triple bottom line would be a social enterprise run as a non-profit but earning income by offering opportunities . The organization earns a profit, which is controlled by Volunteers-on-Board, and put back into the community. The social benefit is meaningful. In the private sector, a commitment to Corporate social responsibility (CSR) implies a commitment to transparent reporting about the business' material impact for good on the environment and people. Triple bottom line is one framework for reporting this material impact. This is distinct from the more limited changes required to deal only with ecological issues. The triple bottom line has also been extended to encompass four pillars, known as the quadruple bottom line (QBL). The fourth pillar denotes a future-oriented approach (future generations & intergenerational equity). It is a long-term outlook that sets sustainable development and sustainability concerns apart from previous social, environmental, and economic considerations. The challenges of putting the TBL into practice relate to the measurement of social and ecological categories in Villages in India . more
