Solution for Union of Fractured Bones in Non-Union

One of my friend, 66 years, 171 cm, 80 Kg, had right thigh fracture in Jan, 2010 and left thigh fracture in Nov.,2013 in 2 accidents. Despite 14 operations/ procedures (nailing, rich platelets, bone marrow, bone graft, dynamizations, platting, bone morphogenic protein insertion between fractured bones) in leading Hospitals of India, extensive Allopathic, Ayurvedic (including Hadjod in many forms & its formulations including in Trikatu, Ashwagandha, babool, shilajeet, Arjuna, Medasak, various guggulu, & Bhasma), Homeopathic (including Symphytom from Q to 1M with Hypericum, Lednum, Rhus Tox, Roota, Bellis in various potency), Herbal treatments, fractured bones are still in non-union/extremely delayed union. There is problem of insignificant/no callous/ calcium formation between fractured bones. He can not stand, walk and sit without help of a walker since last 5 years and that too with lot of pain in both hip joints & thighs. He is non-diabetic, with normal: thyroid, vitamin D, calcium, phosphorous, BMD, testosterone, LFT, KFT, ESR, Hb, HbA1C, P1NP etc. Slightly high B.P. with cholesterol, skin itching, urinary problems (no enlargement of prostrate) under control by medicines. Members and experts are requested to give solutions & references of experts for early bones union after fracture in non union state after few years, without giving any preventive measures for fractures/bones. more

Hi, This is a very complex case of non-union which requires a team of experienced orthopedic surgeons to help. Though, I am not a specialist but probable cause is poor blood circulation in the affected area and how it would be enhanced even after graft and plating. Kindly go through this weblink for further information - http://www.boneandjoint.org.uk/content/jbjsbr/79-B/2/289.full.pdf more
I am not a doctor but an electronics & telecommunication engineer. About 50 years back, I attended a conference on biomedical engineering where some foreign experts described how bone union can be expedited through usage of electric currents in senior citizens. This technology should be available in India - maybe at AIIMS now. more
