SOMETHING FOR RAILWAYS TO THINK OF.....OUR LOCAL PASSENGER TRAINS

SHORT DISTANCE PASSENGER TRAINS- SOME FACTS:-

1. unclean and overcrowded
2. no one checks ticket in unreserved coaches
3. people simply board and get off free travel
4. no one collects ticket at exit
5.more than one exits in stations
6.no manned exits to collect tickets
7.coaches are as old as railways
8. people sit on door front
9. unauthorized people and enter selling many things
10. people drink alcohol surreptitiously inside coaches
11. people lie down sleep on daytime on the seats preventing others to sit.

Why not make day short distance passenger train coaches like chair cars (NONAC). This can accomodate more people

In fact all unreserved coaches in any trains shouldl be non ac chair car type; this can carry more people more

This is a important issue. I agree with enclosed comment. The passenger trains are poorly maintained. more  
The aim should be to accommodate more people / passenger. more  
Mr. Sukumaran is correct but Railway should not be blamed alone. It is our duty also to keep the things clean. People want to board the train though it is overcrowded and next train is there within 30 minutes. In such cases Railway should sale ticket like Cinema halls or Buses with seat nos. to avoid overcrowded train. Yes definitely Railway should provide new coaches as very old coaches are still being used. Regarding unauthorised hawkers entry, if Rly can not provide catering services in all trains, the hawkers should be allowed. Otherwise people wont get food in train. more  
Long distance suburban trains to Virar and Kalyan and beyond can be double decker to accommodate more sitting passengers. All local passenger trains may also be converted to double decker trains. more  
As I have written umpteen times, unless reshuffle the Board with outside professionals, and make 17 zones into 5 Corporations and run them in competition on commercial lines, Railways cannot be changed.
Commercial line does not mean hike in fare. It means having a operting ration of 45% instead of the present 96%. Pushpavanam more  
If the double decker local trains are introduced the storage on each and every station should be doubled.

If you travel by anything below 3 AC you can write loads of complains and it will all go unnoticed by the railways and only members in the circle end up reading and remain helpless. Last evening 9 pm my wife and me boarded kochuveli -blore train from Ernakulam Junction to Bangalore. Our ticket was RAC and were allotted 2 sitting along with many other co passengers who were suffering the same fate. During the journey there was no T T E to check our tickets and also after going and meeting one in another coach he refused to come to the coach in which we were travelling in.. There were empty berths and no one to allot the same to the women and children along with few RAC passengers...They remained empty till morning and RAC passengers with struggling in the side berths..fear of being woken up by passengers in the middle of the night or by TTE and asking the RAC passengers to vacate the berths makes them not to occupy the vacant berths. After paying full fare why are the RAC passengers given such miserable treatment???? AFTER PAYING FULL FARE WHY ARE THE R A C PASSENGERS GIVEN SUCH MISERABLE AND SHODDY TREATMENT ???? WHY DOES THE RAILWAY BLOCK MORE THAN 200 TICKETS FOR TATKAL IN EVERY TRAIN TO GENERATE MORE REVENUE WHEN IT CANNOT PROVIDE BASIC COMFORT LIKE PROVING A COMFORTABLE NIGHT SLEEP TO THE FULL FARE PAYING PASSENGERS WHO HAVE BOOKED TICKETS BEFORE THE TATKAL PASSENGERS HAVE BOOKED ????? WHO GIVES RAILWAYS THE RIGHTS TO INCONVENIENCE PASSENGERS ???? ARE THESE THE THE ACCHHE DIN THE HONOURABLE PRIME MINSTER PROMISED US.???? "SORRY state of affairs of Indian Railways" This has got nothing to do with which party is n power. By only providing waste disposal bins in the AC coaches and fixing some steel mugs in a few bathrooms the Railways dept is feeling proud of their achievements. Taps are leaking , upholstery of the berths is pathetic and the foam so worn out that people end up with a back pain.The side berths are so uneven the passengers will end up with a broken back. Thanks to the INDIAN RAILWAYS. Windows, glass and metal do not open and if it does open it does not shut . During the journey in the latter part of the night and early mornings the open ticket travellers and the vendors get into the reserved compartments and occupy the middle space between the berths making it inconvenient to the rest of the passengers. IS THE DEPARTMENT NOT AWARE OF THESE HAPPENINGS???? SPECIAL SQUAD GETS INTO THE TRAINS BOUND TO GAUWHATI & PATNA TO HARASS THE NORTH EAST AND BIHARI LABOUR AND WORK FORCE AND EXTRACTS MONEY FROM THEM. more
